    • Easy Route to Great Espresso and Cappuccino

I'm usually a regular coffee guy, although sometimes I'll enjoy a cappuccino or mocha when I go out for coffee. Because of that, I was skeptical of the usefulness of a dedicated espresso machine -- but since then, the DeLonghi has become an essential part of my countertop lineup. First, it fits anywhere; it's smaller than I expected, at about 10" deep, 8" wide, and just under 12" high. Initial setup was effortless; while I washed all of the detachable components in soap and water, instructions are to just put it together and run the machine empty three times. After that, the effortlessness continued. Grind enough coffee to fill the filter basket (I used my Baratza Encore -- not ESP -- which worked fine even though it's not supposed to be an espresso grinder), tamp it, push the basket into the portafilter, snap the portafilter into place, and then press a button for one cup or two. Time to heat up and brew is minimal -- like that, your espresso is done! Cappuccino is almost that easy, once you get the hang of using the steam wand -- my first few cups were seriously over-frothed, but I'm getting a great foam now. Cleanup is pretty simple -- rinse the filter basket and the portafilter, detach the steam wand and rinse that, if you used it. I might be a coffee philistine, but this machine has been producing great-tasting espresso and cappuccino for me without much effort (and I'm ready to start branching out into fancier drinks). Really, the only 'drawback' so far has been the initial learning curve -- getting the right grind and learning *just* how much to tamp down the grounds so that the brew flows through the portafilter, learning *just* how much to froth. And now I'm done with the learning, so it's just enjoyment! If you're ready to step beyond regular drip coffee, this DeLonghi should definitely be considered for a spot in your kitchen. ... show more

I'm definitely a noob when it comes to espresso machines, so take this from the perspective of someone buying their first one. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I've been happy with it so far. It's easy to use once you get the hang of it, heats up quickly, and makes coffee that tastes much better than what I was expecting from a machine in this price range. The coffee quality has been consistently good, the espresso has a nice flavor and aroma, and the steam wand works well enough for the occasional latte or cappuccino. I also like that it doesn't take up a ton of counter space. I'm sure there are better machines out there if you're a serious espresso enthusiast, but for someone like me who's just getting started, it does exactly what I wanted. Fabulous quality and consistent results with this reliable De'Longhi classic espresso machine. Honesty, this is a budget friendly (great price) entry machine, but don't let that deter you. This is a hard working. quality machine that is durable and will serve you really well. I have owned a no-name entry level espresso machine before and this is world's apart from that one. What I really like is the manual steam wand, which equals better micro-foam (once you learn it). It is truly, far more convenient than dealing with a milk carafe that you'll need to clean out its hoses after every usage. This can be quite a nuisance and why I mostly used my other machine, just for making espresso's and stopped using the milk container to make cappuccinos, unless I had more people/coffees to make. NOW with this steam wand, it is NOT an issue and super easy to foam/steam milk for one person or many (your choice). The wand is very adjustable and contorting to your needs. The size of this is unit fantastic and quite compact for an espresso machine. I measured the width (left to right) and it comes in ant only 8 inches wide (9” when including the knob and steam wand) and the height is exactly 12” tall. The length front to back is ONLY 10.5”and it weighs 9 pounds, making it perfect for most kitchen countertops. Also, it has a 57 oz removable water tank positioned behind the machine for easy refills. I really suggest an appliance slider as (for me) it is a must have when owning a machine like this and will make it a breeze to refill the water and bring the entire machine to you when making a brew. What I really like, when comparing with my other machine, is this one heats up so quickly and is really ready to brew with little downtime. It uses a thermoblock technology. The Thermoblock system is designed to reach the perfect temperature almost instantly for fast, consistent brewing. Overall, De'Longhi is a leader in espresso machines (with decades of experience) and they know what they are doing. You can spend 100's or 1,000's on a coffee machine, but you can also get a GREAT brew from a solid, basic espresso machine like this! If you want an Americano....just add the appropriate amount of hot water to your shot! With a good espresso machine, you can actually make quite a lot of specialty coffees and have fun while learning. Don't limit yourself to just an espresso or cappuccino! ... show more

The machine makes decent espresso but it’s cheaply made. It’s made in China using De’Longhi. The portafilter is aluminum not stainless steel cheap and the machine is extremely light weight . The steam wand makes the milk extremely frothy and the rubber nozzle inside the wand does a better job but it’s made of rubber. The coffee is not hot have to microwave it after but heating cups before helps. ... show more

’ve been wanting to make café-style espresso drinks at home without spending a fortune on a professional machine, and this De’Longhi espresso machine has been exactly what I was looking for. From the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the sleek stainless steel design. It looks fantastic on the countertop and feels much more premium than its price point suggests. Setup was quick and straightforward, and within minutes I was pulling my first shots. The controls are intuitive, making it easy for beginners while still offering enough flexibility for someone who enjoys experimenting with their coffee. The espresso comes out rich and flavorful with a beautiful layer of crema, and the machine heats up quickly so I’m not waiting around for my morning coffee. One of my favorite features is the steam wand. It does a great job frothing milk for lattes and cappuccinos, producing smooth, creamy foam that elevates homemade drinks. After a little practice, I was making coffee shop-quality beverages without leaving the house. Cleaning and maintenance have also been surprisingly easy. The removable components make rinsing and upkeep simple, which encourages me to use it every day. I’ve found it to be reliable, consistent, and much more convenient than constantly making trips to a coffee shop.
