Not off to a good start and don't have a WARM & FUZZY feeling at this time. Ordered this product based on my previous Uniden Cordless phone system which is over ten years old and only lately has started giving me problems. Buttons hard to push, all but one battery needs replacing (won't hold a charge longer than 20 to 30 mins) and with price of batteries I decided to replace it with a new/updated system. Got the system within time expected but that's where the FUN ended. Opened box and found the base unit does not work Kaput, DOA, nada, does not work and nothing I can do will ever bring it back to life. Next I tried to call the Uniden Service only to realize that they are only open 8-5 M-F and are located in CST. It was after hours and on a Friday night when I tried to call to speak with a tech rep. so I thought "no problem" I'll just email them with my problem which I did over the weekend. Got a response from JOSH on Monday AM with 6 steps to follow to get the base unit working. Tried his recommendations and still, kaput, DOA, nada, etc.so I immediately emailed him back indicating that the issue was still an ISSUE. Since I did not get another email from them on Monday and have yet to get one today (late Tuesday PM) I tried calling the CUSTOMER SERVICE number, LOL only to discover that really isn't really a live CUSTOMER SERVICE human you can talk with about your problem. You are told to visit their web site, which I all ready did, and got only 1, that is spelled ONE, response regarding my problem, which as I indicated, did not work. Based on the past Uniden system and the reliable service it gave me for over 10 years I am going to make one more effort to actually talk to a real-live-human being who is employed by Uniden and can fix my problem. If I can't get in touch with a person who can help me I will send back this unit and purchase from a different manufacturer who maybe has actual people who work for them and can answer questions. Pros: 1. None to offer at this time Cons: 1. Item defective out of the box. 2. No actual customer service department to talk to. Update 3/2/2017 Received email today from Uniden informing me that they have not made this particular model for 3 YEARS and parts are no longer available. In addition they no longer manufacture any type of phone. So buyer BEWARE when ordering any telephone product made by Uniden on line. Service and parts may not be available.

It seems like all of the cordless phones now have answering machines built in when I'd rather use my voicemail. While you can turn off the answering machines in other brands, they don't have the flashing light telling you you have a voicemail and you have to remember to keep checking your line to hear if it has the "broken" dial tone indicating a voicemail. This model allows you to either use their answering machine, or bypass it and use your voicemail. If you use their ans. machine, the base blinks and tell you how many messages. If you turn that off, and you get messages on your voicemail, the handsets will blink to let you know there is a message, and an "envelope" (message icon) appears on the screen. It also allows you to assign different ring tones to frequent callers. I love that feature as I'm often away from a handset when the phone rings and have run to the phone only for it to be a robocall. This lets me know if it's my hubby, or BFF, or sister just by the ring tone. I had Uniden before and was very pleased with their clarity. Due to phone line problems in my house, I had to switch to a multi handset unit as now I can only plug it into my modem and can't have multiple bases that I had before. I hated giving up my Uniden so was so pleased to find this set.

Great phone system. I call it a system because it supports multiple handsets. In our case two plus the base unit. I bought this to replace a 5 year old base station that was probably fried by one of our many power blips. Exactly the one I had before. Each handset is a speaker phone, can retrieve messages, hold calls, access caller id history and even intercom between phones.which is handy to be able to make a handset ring if you misplace it. The handset has an LED that is on solid to show connectivity and blinks if there is a message. The system is simple enuogh to setup that my wife did it with the help of the instructions. What else would you want? I don't make many calls and don't use the phone book feature. I do not know if it is by handset or the system. If you still have a landline, this is the one for you.

I've had several different home phones, but this brand is my favorite. Recently my daughter sent me a new red home phone. The screen on it was very difficult to read because the backlighting was too dark and was green. I finally got fed up trying to read it and gave it away. I replaced it with this very brightly-backlit home phone. I had this brand of home phone before and knew it to be highly readable. It isn't just that the backlighting is so great, but the alphabet and numbers are very readable as well. The alphabet and numbers on my red phone were horrible. The numbers 7 and 1 looked similar and the alphabet for the caller ID was skinny and hard to read. BOTTOM LINE: I will never buy another brand of phone. Uniden, for my needs, is the absolute best!!! If you are older like me, you will really appreciate these two features.
