I needed a dedicated 2GHz router for my Shark robot vacuum. This router was so easy to add to my existing Orbi network. Yes, the Orbi switches automatically from 2GHz to 5GHz and I do have other 2GHz IOT devices attached to it. The Shark robot however seemed to have issues and would not connect until I used the Dbit router. Now all my devices are happy, and I can use the Shark as it was intended.

I am a long way from being a tecchi guy but if you have a couple of hours I could regale you with tales of the number of hours I have spent trying to get my router to connect to the Internet and then to my computers. Trust me: I have a very low threshhold for this sort of pain! About two and a half months ago my beloved and VERY expensive router just decided to die. I tried everything but one morning it was just no longer working. I called it my "beloved router" because this was the first one that had worked seamlessly for me for four years and then, there it was: just so much black plastic trash. So since it had been so good, I bought another one. Now, here comes the Dbit AC122 Gigabit Dual Band Wi-fi router and I had to give it a try. I was impressed. I connected it and it seemed almost instantly with no coaxing it just grabbed the Internet and the rest of the set up was easy-peasy and I was off and running. Best of all for only $30 bucks? Wow! I don't have the expertise to detail the signal strength or the speeds uploading or downloading and compare it to the other router I have, but from my observation, it was more than adequate for anything I might need to do, like write Amazon reviews and upload them from my desk. At the very least, this is a great router to keep handy for when my VERY expensive router decides it is time to ride off into the sunset. And I gotta tell you it is VERY refreshing to see some part of this Internet connectivity equipment in WHITE instead of the black that you cannot see clearly without lighting the strength of the sun! The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because there are only four ports on the router instead of five which seems more common, at least on the more expensive, "traditional" brands. Otherwise from my use, I recommend this router as a great value in basic connectivity at a great price.

So, yes, this router works. Minimal setup menu, but enough for basic users. For the pricepoint, one can't expect too much. Big detriment was that there's no 5ghz band -- and although the listing doesn't advertise that it has 5ghz, it isn't clear that this is only a singleband 2.4 model. Advance users will already have figured that out from the price and text, but less tech savvy folks...be aware. However, if money is tight, this unit will get you online. Power was decent, too, which was unexpected. No instructions come with the unit, but setup isn't too hard if you do a bit of research. IMPORTANT NOTE: my router had a default IP of 192.168.10.1 -- unlike the usual 192.168.1.1 -- so if you're having trouble connecting, put 192.168.10.1 into your browser address bar.

We got this for one of our kids to use in their apartment. We needed a small, inexpensive router that wasn’t super powerful (apartment buildings have hundreds of Wi-Fi devices). After setting this up and doing some testing, I am pretty impressed. The user interface is a little clunky, but I was able to figure it out. Setup out of the box can be confusing, but if you pay attention, it’s hard to mess things up. The first thing I tested was speed. The building has ethernet to each apartment. Speed tests with my laptop plugged directly into it were around 100mbps. Not blazing fast, but perfectly fine for a small space with few devices. After plugging in the router, I tested ethernet, 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz Wi-Fi and got only slightly less than what I tested directly to the wall. This means that there’s not a lot of overhead. Ping times and latency were also minimal. The router has a setting to make Wi-Fi blended. This means you see one SSID and the device and router negotiate the best connection. This worked surprisingly well. It has the same feature as the guest network (if you choose to set one up). I also tried using my company’s VPN while connected, and that worked flawlessly also. Last, this router has the ability to adjust the power of the wifi signal. There are 3 settings (power saving, normal and a maximum). I used normal and it easily covered the ~600 sq. ft. apartment (but not much further. I find this to be useful to limit who can sniff around your Wi-Fi without actually being in the apartment. Overall, I found this to be a fantastic value for the price. I forgive the clunky setup in favor of the nice little features (that my very expensive Asus router doesn’t have). Performance has met and exceeded my expectations. I didn’t test it on full power, but if you have to cover a really large area, then just buy something more expensive.

WiFi router was garbage right out of the package. Settings wouldn't save and refused to distribute internet through WiFI or Lan. Stay away from this product. Spend a few more dollars and get a different make and model.

Good quality for a such a cheap item. Easy to setup and get going out of the box but also has a ton of power user options for the IT guys out there. Good signal strength in my (tiny) row home from the unit placed in the front of the basement up to the second floor back bedroom. Took a star off as it needs a reset once or twice a week, but I didn't mind doing it for the price.
