This alternator replaced the original Bosch unit perfectly in my 2001 VW New(?) Beetle. It is an easy DIY job that you can do in an hour. Don’t pay the dealer, just order this one and watch a YouTube video. Get out there and get it done. ❤️😎

    • Seems nice but will it last??
Great price considering all the parts stores want $180+ - fitment was perfect. I'm certain this is a Chinese rebuild as there are no OEM Bosch parts here, even the voltage regulator. Will it last?? Tine will tell but its putting out a healthy 14v under load, I've only had it dip into the 13s on a hot engine at startup. Once it;s going it works fine. ... show more

I was looking for an 19amp alternator with a VW Beetle, I went to auto parts store and they had the core without the pulley. I am glad that I checked on Amazon. It was affordable, the specs were exact and matched up well with old core. I did not have to spend additional money to purchase the pulley and everything came as shown.     • Does not fit!
Hate it! I checked the mounting holes and the pulley size and circumference. Looked good. Got the old alternator out and this one bolted up in 90 minutes. Then, tried to get the serpentine belt on. Didn't fit. I spent hours trying to get it on, even asking VW mechanics for any tips. Finally took it off and compared it to the original. This new ones mounting bolt housing was 5/8ths too high, making the belt too short to fit on the pulley. I wish it wouldn't have bolted up. Went to OReilly paid twice as much for one the exact same size, bolted it up and the belt slipped on. Don't waste your money and especially your time.
