I'm very happy that it showed up because it's identical to the napa ones that are remanned, but this is brand new and much better on the cost side of things. I installed this in about 1.5 hours with minimal tools, it was very simple to do in my 14' silverado 1500. It was also 20 amps bigger than the stock one that died. I've been extremely happy with this, between pulling campers, 4 wheelers, trailers etc. I've never had a loss of power. Waited 3 weeks before writing this review. Very pleased with the GM Genuine Parts 84143540 Alternator purchase. My truck was having issues with the audio not working sometimes and at low speeds the power steering being difficult. One morning when the truck wouldn't start, I pulled the battery and had it tested. Battery was fine so after they charged it, I brought the truck in to test the alternator and discovered it was outputting too much. Guessing the regulator inside the alternator had failed. My brother-in-law recommended getting the 170 amp version and sent me a link to this one. Installing the new alternator took about an hour and afterwards I was shocked at how much better the truck performed. It has more pep, responsiveness, and the intermittent audio issues went away.
