I never understood the people saying this speaker doesn't go deep enough, or can't fill a large room. Those people are spoiled $1000 sub audiophiles. If you are a normal person, who wants deep thundering bass for a cheap price hear me out. The bass THUNDERS. It's SO deep I have to turn the volume down to nearly nothing at night so it doesn't disturb the neighbors. When I turn the gain up more then 3/4ths of the way (on low volume) I feel like my head is gearing to explode. It's so deep it feels like you're at a concert. Audiophiles are too picky man, unless you're trying to fill a massive room, you don't need the 1200. You don't need the 1000. This thing is a monster, it's like a foot tall, and the driver is 8". I came from a 4" sub I didn't know it could GET this massive or deep. Along with being powerful, the sound quality you get for your money is unparalleled. I like to turn my speakers off sometimes and just listen to how detailed and tight the bass is. It's not boomy, there's no rattling noises, it's tight and clear, and adds depth to your music/show/game whatever. I've had subs before that sound boxy, artificial or fake, that is not the case. I have the Audioengine a2+ and they're perfect for my office space but I felt I still needed just a little bit of oomph to complement them. I was looking at more expensive subs and from reading some of the comments a few people have mentioned the Daytons. I'm glad I listened and bought the SUB-800. Fits perfectly on my cabinet and plenty of bass to boot. Best bang for your buck!! ... show more

Outperforms and sounds better than the sub it replaced costing more than twice as much Got this at the suggestion from Orb Audio to pair with their sats, and was not disappointed

    • Sound great with my Audio Engine 2+ (A2+) speakers.
Purchased this sub for my A2+ speakers. The improvement was dramatic. The sound quality is really good. It is an excellent companion to my speakers which are geared more towards a 12 x 12 room. The sound is rich and the controls allow you to get a sound that is not too thumpy and distorted. The connection was super easy. I just connected the A2+'s OUTPUT preamp connection to the Dayton's RCA jacks (where one jack is marked MONO). I really recommend this subwoofer if you trying to really round out your sound for a pair of powered desktop speakers. ... show more

    • Great compact subwoofer for desktop setup
Purchased the Dayton Audio SB-800 sub to replace an Audioengine S8 that was crapping out and no longer available. To my surprise the Dayton Audio sub sounded even better with my desktop setup with Audioengine S2 speakers and the Dayton sub under my desktop. After a few quick adjustments to the crossover (set around 100Hz) and gain to mid-level and breaking it in a bit, I was very happy witht the sound. The build might not be quite up to the level of my old sub, but more than adequate considering this one was one-third the price. I have no regrets picking this up. ... show more

The build quality is excellent. It produces more than enough bass for a 40ft x 40ft room. The high level input/output speaker lines are what I needed to use since my Fosi Audio amp doesn't have a sub out. Auto switch On is great to have. Plus, I love playing with the Crossover and Gain controls to get just the sound I like. If you look up reviews it's rated one of the best Subs if not the best Sub for the price. ... show more
