Great little popper

I love this popper, the lid serves as a convenient measuring cup, I use two sections of it and it makes plenty for me. It's so easy to use and most of the kernels pop, but I guess that depends on what kind and quality of popcorn you are using. For the record, I use Orville Redenbacher's yellow popcorn, I buy the big eight pound tub of it that you can get on here. One thing to consider though, I bought the smaller one and it is great for two or three people, but if you have more than that you might want to get the larger size, because according to the instructions you need to wait 10 to 12 minutes before using the unit again or it can overheat. In conclusion, I love the design and the easy to use features, I also appreciate the clever way it is stored, inside the bowl itself, it takes up very little space, and of course the convenience of also using the bowl to serve with too, a great little popper that I don't regret getting.

Old Method, Good Popcorn

There are many ways to pop corn now. It wasn't always this way though. This popcorn popper is an updated version of the type we used to use when I was a kid. When microwave popcorn became available, it was so convenient to stick a bag in. Later, I read that some of the ingredients in the store bought microwave popcorn were not totally safe. We got a silicone bowl from Amazon and made our own microwave popcorn. This method was easy, cheaper than store bought, convenient, and fast. However, if you want to add butter, you had to melt it and then spoon it on the popped corn. This popper eliminated that since the top has slits that melts the butter while the corn is popping. The wire inside rotates and keeps the popped corn from getting burned. The first time I used this popper, there were no "old maids". Now that's impressive! Now, sometimes there may be 3 or 4, but they are cooked and crunchy. The plastic bowl is top shelf dishwasher safe. Good product and good buy.

Great popcorn!

We’d gotten into the habit of buying bags of prepopped popcorn, which was inconvenient and really expensive. Tried some microwave brands and they just didn’t taste as good. So we got this popper and it’s been great! It’s very easy to use and paid for itself in about a month, and the popcorn is about the best we’ve tasted. The quantity is just right for two people and a movie. I use just slightly less than a half cup of kernels because a true half cup sometimes raises the lid just as it finishes popping. Also, I invert the whole assembly when it’s done, before turning it off, because it only takes a few seconds with the stirrer not turning to burn the popcorn. I haven’t had any problems cleaning it and don’t see how it could be easier and still work as well. The bowl and cap are soaked in soapy water along with the stirrer and plastic nut, wiped with a dish sponge, rinsed and dried. The base I wipe with a paper or cloth towel to remove the oil and butter. The non-stick coating wipes clean. It seems unavoidable to get droplets of butter in the countertop; these are actually harder to clean than the popper but still not much work. I do have a few critiques—minor to me but maybe more important to others: There is a lip about a quarter inch wide, on the bottom heated portion, which the clear lid/bowl sits on. It’s too wide, so kernels can sit on the lip and not get popped. This is the main source of the few unpopped kernels we get each time. The clear top isn’t really a reliable bowl because the cap doesn’t stay tight when the bowl cools off, and can leak residual butter and oil on my table or lap. So I dump the popcorn into another bowl. Which is a good time to sprinkle salt in.

Best popcorn popper EVER!!!

I grew up eating popcorn made in a pan on the stove. Over the years, I’ve had probably a dozen or more different air poppers and other types of poppers, but never could get that old-fashioned taste that I craved. UNTIL NOW!! Have owned this 3 quart model for 9 months and it’s been heavily used. (Popcorn is a ‘basic food group’ for me!) I use coconut oil (not much) and popcorn kernels we buy at a Rural King store. I prefer to use a glass bowl when the popcorn is ready and I melt butter beforehand. Hoping to extend the life of the plastic ‘bowl’ that way. So far it all still looks brand new! Easy to clean - stores all tucked together. Only one word of WARNING!!! We have misplaced the knob that holds the stirring rod in place and replacement parts are NOT available!!! The search is ongoing, but I will buy another one of these if it does not turn up. Watching for a sale on Amazon Prime. The company offered me a discount, but charges shipping.

I've had this popcorn maker for a couple of weeks now and it has earned a spot on my countertop because we use it almost every day! I love being able to make as much or as little popcorn as I want and the versatility of adding whatever seasonings I'm in the mood for. The popcorn produced is similar taste and quality to that of a commercial popcorn popper and just tastes way fresher than microwave popcorn and with fewer kernels. We are very pleased with this popper and it's a family favorite!

Not up to par with other brands, complete disappointment

I've owned several different popcorn makers throughout the years and while many of them got the job done, and were OK, this one is not one of them. First off, the lid does not fit securely over the base, which holds popcorn oil and the kernels. As the popcorn oil heated, the steam caused the oil to come out of the crack between the base and the lid which is very thin, cheap plastic made material. The instructions say to use one part oil to three parts popcorn kernels, however 1:3 can be construed as one cup, half a cup or 1/4 a cup and I used far less and ended up with a soggy oily disaster. Due to that, the cooked popcorn was soggy. Perhaps it was the popcorn oil I used, which did a good job of making the kernels very yellow and buttery looking, but it had no flavor/taste and again, was soggy. The popcorn machine itself is very difficult to clean because of the cheap materials it is made out of, and trying to hand clean it with soap and water only caused the popcorn oil to spread more, 3 sponges were thrown out as well as numerous paper towels. Furthermore the very top part of the popcorn maker (which would be the top part of the bowl when flipped) the bottom has an area you can put some butter. A cap goes over that area to keep the kernels from coming out and the butter to go into the popping kernels. My butter had been sitting out for about 30 minutes, yet the heat of the popcorn maker itself did nothing to melt the butter into the popping kernels. Once the kernels were through popping and I flipped the whole thing over, the butter continued to stay in the butter area and had not dripped any into the popcorn itself. Wow this is a cute machine, and I liked the color, the material and way that this was designed is not only cheap but highly ineffective. Very disappointed, and will be sending this back.

Not the worst, not the best

I give this a solid three stars. I like that you can pop your popcorn and then flip it over to make it into a bowl, but the bowl is quite hot initially, so you have to be fairly careful with it. I also like that you can put butter on the vent, which will allow it to slowly drip on the popping corn, but I did notice that it created a brown-color on the popcorn, almost like the butter was burned. It tasted okay, though. But just not as good as I was hoping. It was fairly easy to clean. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Will I continue to use it? Most likely yes.

Popcorn junkie here. Trying to be more health conscious and stay away from the microwavable bags. I always end up burning some if I do it on the stovetop in a large pan no matter how well I shake and shimmy while popping. I was looking for something that wouldn't leave the bitter taste of burnt disappointment. So, first time trying a popper like this. So far, I think it works great and clean up is easy. I like that it has the rotating arm that prevents any kernels from sticking. It doesn't have an automated timer or any settings...just an on/off switch. So, you do have to watch it or listen closely. The little measuring cup gets placed on top after the popping is done and helps the dome function as a serving bowl. I thought this color was really cute and fun...but there's options. It's small enough to store on the pantry shelf right beside all the popcorn stuffs. I feel like it was worth the investment as much as I snack on popcorn and trying to have healthier options. Plus, I just like smelling and seeing homemade buttery popcorn popping on the countertop right before diving into movie night or as motivation during a study break. Maybe keeps me a little nostalgic and snacking better.
