This is the easiest and safest mandoline slicer that I have ever owned, and I have tried several. I sliced six butter potatoes at the thinnest setting in less thank two minutes. The slices were uniform and gorgeous and the mandoline used every single bit of each potato. The end result were perfect slices that sautéed and crisped up to above my highest expectation. The mandoline produces not only slices of varying thicknesses but dices and juliennes as well. It is EXTREMELY easy to use and and completely safe - so safe a budding child chef could use with basically no danger. This product is well worth the price, a great aid in the kitchen, and I strongly recommend making the small investment. However, I should point out two observations to make my review completely transparent. First, unlike a professional mandoline you are limited in the size of the object you would like to slice. In this case you trade up size versatility for safety. Second, the mandoline comes with a little brush to clean it but, cleaning is not straightforward unless you submerge in water, which the instructions do not indicate if one should or should not. This stays on my counter since i use it so much! I do lots of meal prep, so this is helpful for carrots, onions, potatoes, Etc. Extremely easy to use, wish the cleaning was a bit easier but about the same as other products I guess. I do recommend at least rinsing well immediately after use and the included brush is helpful. I like that it folds flat. Nice clean cuts for sturdy veggies and blade hasnt dulled so far, after a few months of heavy use. Makes bulk food prep so much easier, and enables my young son to help. ... show more

I had been looking for a kitchen slicer, when I came across this mandoline slicer. My previous slicer was unhandy and dangerous for a fingers, so I wanted to find something safe and useful. This slicer catched my eye with it's sleeky modern design and great functionality. Price was reasonable, so I could afford it. When slicer arrived, at first I noticed it's appearance. It looked nice and handy. Unfortunately, it's intricated a bit, one shoud practice with unfolding it. Functionality is beyond amazing, it cuts all as was promised. Except for dices - its too complicated to do them. Maybe I just didn't get the technique. However I want to emphasize, than in general it's very useful and safe slicer. Moreover, it can be washed in dishwashing mashine, one should only hide blades. Summing up, I'm happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone who is engaged in cooking. ... show more

    • It really works!

Over the years I have had so many mandolins and "clever" slicers with interchangeable blades and security pushers that proved unsuccessful or too dangerous. Well, I don't think this Dash slicer will be leaving my kitchen for quite some time if all continues to go so well. In the first three days I've had the Dash mandolin I have sliced paper-thin to chunky potatoes, dozens of carrots, celery stalks, apples, and onions (thin sliced and chunks). Not everything comes out as neatly as if I had done it by hand because some items move around in the bin as you SAFELY push them into the chute. I have surrendered my need for precision-cut carrots, etc., for less arthritis pain in my hands, and getting the product ready faster. If you bring out the electric food processor for slicing veggies and then have to clean all the parts, I think you will find the Dash slicer much easier to set up and clean, and just as fast and semi-uniform as your big processor. It also has a wider variety of slicing possibilities. My biggest problem when using the Dash is that I get so wrapped up in the processing that I forget to empty the little bowl. So, my second time using it, I opted for one of my many bendable slicing mats that have replaced cutting boards. I set the exit area (back end/foldable legs) feet of the slicer a few inches onto the edge of the mat instead of using the bowl. The mat appears to handle about three times the amount of sliced material as the bowl. I then lift the slicer feet that rest on the mat, slide the mat out, hold the mat sides up a bit to cradle the produce, and unload it into the cooking pot or wherever they will go next. Much easier than chasing the stray bits that overflow the provided receptacle. I think a vulnerable spot to be aware of will be opening and closing the movable legs. They do need to be "clicked" or gently maneuvered into place until you feel them go into their positions indicated by small raised marks on the top of the legs. It may feel more natural as I use it more, but it does need to be done with kindness and not a ham-fisted shove. It also took me several times to get started in the right direction when attaching the receptacle for the _unsliced_ produce and the "pusher". The end with the serrated edges goes toward the slicer stand; and the rounded (or half-circle) part faces up, not toward the table. ... show more
