I help students in college set up tiny kitchens. I have used this hotplate to cook full meals very competently. This is an electric hotplate so those folks who are used to gas need to recognize the difference. The plate heats up very fast and maintains for lengthy periods. Great little cooktop. Mine might have a defect but it doesn't seem like it stays cooking, I'm constantly having to turn it up to keep my food cooking. Even just boiling water seems to take forever.
