I only need this to be warm so temp didn't matter much. If you think you're going to do some elaborate cooking and it's going to hold a temp this is not the gadget for you. Got this to use in my FEMA trailer after the hurricane. The top dirties easily and the baked on debris does not come off. There is really no temp control. There is a knob, but no idea of low or high and it takes forever to even boil water. Still glad I have it, but not overjoyed.

I bought it because I live in a very small studio, and I'm so glad that I didn't got rid of my other "hot plate"...this one painfully took me about 25 minutes to cook scramble eggs. The hot plate allows the pan to have an even distribution of heat and cooks everything more uniformly. I appreciate how easy it is to control the heat settings and how easy it is to keep clean.
