  • Travel Buggy Dash
Style: Black
This electric wheelchair is not covered by my insurance, so I had to pay out of pocket. This is my first experience with Travel Buggy products, but I have 20+ years experience using manual and power wheelchairs. The Dash model has 1 lithium battery and is lightweight. If you are able to be on the floor in front of the chair and have some strength in your hands, you pull the pin to the right and pull the battery toward yourself to remove the battery for off-board charging or getting the info needed to replace the battery as needed. To get the battery back in when you remove it, there is a plastic notch that has to slide into a plastic receiver like a puzzle piece fits just right. The battery won't lock in correctly if everything isn't lined up. Like most instruction manuals, helpful information is sometimes omitted. I prefer to charge through the joystick overnight, and you can also do that. The battery charger is lightweight also. I no longer have to leave a battery charger out in sight because it's too heavy to lift. I just easily put this one away when I'm not using it. To me, this chair folds like fixed frame manual wheelchairs instead of the folding manual wheelchairs with the crossbar, so I can fold it myself. It folds easily without any kind of resistance too-a huge plus. It fits in the cargo space of our vehicle nicely so this is the first time of my life I won't have to use public transportation to get around in my power chair. Yay!, because sometimes public transportation passes you by for various reasons. For example, wheelchair spaces are already full on the route or putting the lift down would make the driver late for a stop... etc. I get in and out of this easily the same way I transfer from my fixed frame manual wheelchair. I don't feel "trapped" like I did in my old power chair. The Dash turns well indoors in small spaces. Outdoors, I have to be diligent about making sure that my caster wheels are going in the same direction as the curb cuts because the Dash doesn't have as much power as my old power chair that had two batteries active at all times. For driving on grass, be sure the grass is level with the sidewalk or pavement because, if not, you will get stuck. I can't use my legs to push anything so I transferred to the ground and lifted the chair back onto the pavement, transferred back into the chair, and when on my way, returning home safely. The Dash can easily be changed from power to manual without any strong fine motor skills by the red levers by each wheel. You turn the joystick off . If you move the lever down it is in the power mode or locked; Up is manual or unlocked. I actually chose this model for the solid tires and the 9 degree incline rating which was the same as my old power chair. Just a tip that I notice, when going up and down hills slower speeds seem better. I do use full speed going over railroad tracks though so I can be clear of them asap. I have gotten my front caster jammed in the tracks before, but was able to free myself before a train came, thankfully. I like the joystick too because this one actually shows more clearly how much battery charge you have. I don't have to charge daily either because of this. Also, I like the angle of the footrest on this chair it is so right for me that I no longer need foot straps to keep my feet secure in a power chair. Wow! I am glad I purchased this chair; and, I am grateful be able to explore outside safely. Thank you, Travel Buggy for the Dash. ... show more

  • Love this electric wheelchair!!!!
Style: Black
This chair is a comfortable ride. The seat is roomy and padded and deep enough to support your legs. The footrest is comfortable and folds up. Transfers are easy on either side since both arms flip up and the chair is very stable. I have a small car and my daughter who is average in size puts it in the trunk by herself. I had a couple questions so I called the company. I got right through and they were helpful and very nice. Customer service seems to be a priority. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you. ... show more

  • If weight is no issue...
Style: Black
This chair is very nice, except they list it as 43 lbs with the battery. In fact, it weighs 51 lbs. It's enough more that I cannot lift it. The reason I need the chair is that I have a muscle weakening disorder. This has created a domino effect of needing a carrier and a car that can withstand a carrier. My Ford Focus is not in that category. All I wanted was to be able to help my elderly mother with her errands. I would not have bought it if it was advertised as the correct weight. ... show more

  • Very useful and well built
Style: Black
The chair is great and its well built with good features. It can handle smooth and slightly uneven floors. Got good seating space for an average person. The joystick is too sensitive and hence needs practice to drive. They should have given an option reduce sensitivity of the joystick. You can achieve it partially by slowing down speed. The seat depth is less for a person with longer legs. Otherwise it is heavy and not as light as they show where a single person can lift and slide into the back of a car. ... show more

  • Best customer service in the industry
Style: Black
I’ve had 3 foldable electric wheelchairs in my life. Travel Buggy is by far the best customer service ever in this industry in my experience. I have had my DASH for two years and really have come to rely on it. I have MS and my DASH is great for around the house and short trips away from home. I recently had a small problem, called Travel Buggy and their customer had me fixed up in less than 3o hours, and 24 hours of that was overnight shipping me a part. If I ever wear this chair out I am immediately buying another Travel Buggy ... show more
