So, this is the time of year where Texas moves between the sun and Mercury, so it’s pretty common to wake up feeling sticky and humid—it’s always humid here. Or you wake up with a sore throat from blasting cold air over night. Regardless, I still need a blanket year round so that ghosts don’t touch my butt while I’m sleeping; blankets are a magic force field as we all learn in childhood. Anyway. This is an excellent blanket. Cute color, lightweight, soft to the touch, and keeps me cool all night. I sleep MUCH better under this blanket than my old one. And I love that it holds up well in the washer and dryer even when I forget to use the included laundry bag. There is one thing though, and it’s not worth subtracting a star over. We have a queen bed and bought the queen blanket originally (still holding up well, and the light blue was also super cute). The blanket doesn’t come to the edges of the mattress, so there wasn’t much for me after my husband wraps himself like a burrito in his sleep. We ordered the king blanket when we decided to get a second, and this thing is massive on the mattress and hangs over the sides quite a bit more than we were expecting. It’s still an awesome blanket, y’all; I would just suggest measuring your mattress so you won’t be surprised by the overhang or lack thereof.

I have temperature regulation issues, so I'm either freezing cold or sweating all night. I was staying at a friend's place, and all she had were two of these lightweight bamboo blankets. I got 9 hours straight without waking up sweaty at all! I got home and ordered one, which my fiance promptly stole so he could wrap himself like a burrito at night. So I ordered another, which he designated his "office blanket". I have a total of 5 of these blankets for my home, all in different colors, all of which are exactly as vibrant as pictured. I sent purple ones to my mom, dad, sister, and even a childhood friend; they're pretty much my go-to gift. These are perfect for anyone who's hard to shop for. They're different from the average blanket. Lightweight and stretchy, large enough to wrap around my 5'10" frame and then some. My 6'4" dad had no complaints! They breathe enough to keep you cool in the summer, and if you do sweat at night, let it air dry for a couple minutes and you can barely feel any moisture. In the colder months, they keep you insulated. The directions say not to use a dryer; I tumble dry them (no heat) with no issues, and they remain unbelievably soft and cozy, but use your best judgement. You can fold the blanket in half for a bit of extra weight, and they're still large enough to cover you. In the spare bedroom, we find that guests prefer to use one of the bamboo blankets over their top sheet vs a bulky comforter! These blankets fold up small. In the pictures, I've folded it to 9"×18"×2" and used a soup can for scale. Notice how much less space it takes up on the blanket shelf! I'm absolutely in love with these blankets.

After having this blanket for over a year now, I have to say that it truly does exactly what is advertised. If you are a hot sleeper, this blanket is the cure. Ignore all the other blankets on the market that claim to be cooling, because I've tried them all and none are as effective as this one. Who This Blanket Is For: Obviously anyone can use this blanket, but I think that people (like me) who are seriously hot sleepers will appreciate it the most. To put my situation in perspective, I often cannot sleep comfortably unless my bedroom is between 58-62 degrees. It therefore goes without saying that summertime is my worst sleeping season as I never set the AC that low. Also, my husband is not a hot sleeper so what's ideal for me is way too cold for him. For this reason we usually have our own blankets; he sleeps with a thick comforter even during the summer. What It Feels Like: This blanket is perfect for those who cannot sleep without a blanket but want something a little more substantial than a sheet. On nights when I'm too hot this blanket is the only thing I use; I don't layer it with a top sheet or other covers, I just use this. This blanket gives an instant cooling effect and drapes over your body like silk. It's not going to keep you warm, so be aware of that, but it will be slightly warmer than if you had no blanket at all. I do think that if you were not a very hot sleeper like me, this blanket may not be enough. But if you need extra warmth I would use this blanket in place of a top sheet, and add extra covers on top. Ideally you want this blanket to be the one having the most contact with your body. What I Don't Like: I wish this blanket came in more sizes, like traditional bed sizes. My BIGGEST gripe with this blanket, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that it is incredibly difficult to maintain. If you wash this blanket (which you're likely to do immediately upon receiving it) it WILL shrink over time. How quickly it shrinks will come down to how you wash it. So please take my advice and follow these rules: 1. Handwash ONLY or machine wash on a delicate cycle with low to no spin. If you don't have a front loading washing machine, I recommend only washing by hand as the blanket fibers could snag on the agitator. 2. Do NOT use fabric conditioner or dryer sheets. This will prohibit the blanket's ability to be moisture wicking. 3. Do NOT put this blanket in the dryer, even on low heat. I'm serious. Don't do it. This is the fastest way to Shrink Town. If you bought the larger size of this blanket which can easily fit on a Queen bed, it will reduce in size to a throw blanket in no time. I did this and the blanket isn't long enough anymore to cover me from head to toe. 4. Hang or line dry vertically. Not flat. 5. Wash as infrequently as you can get away with. I hate this rule, because I like to wash bedding frequently, but you just can't with this blanket. Not unless you can afford to replace it often. Because the reality is that even if you follow all the care instructions it is still going to shrink over time, just less quickly. If the thought of not washing it often grosses you out, maybe dry clean it, spot clean it, or just don't get this blanket. Despite how high maintenance this blanket is to launder, for me it's worth it just to be able to sleep cool and comfortable. It's truly the only blanket I've tried that actually does what it claims, so for now there just isn't anything better.

I got this blanket to try as I am so tired of having night sweats (58 year old woman here)! I got this in August and thought I would use it for a while before giving a review. This blanket has turned out to be a godsend and I don’t think I will sleep without it again. I slept directly under this ( no sheet) and immediately noticed I was having about 70 % less instances of waking up sweating at night. I slept longer and wasn’t waking up every couple of hours to throw off a sheet or blanket. Now it’s winter and very cold where I live, I am able to put a heavier comforter over this blanket and still don’t have as many night sweats. If you are having night sweats and want to look at options, I would recommend giving this blanket a try!!
