  • Good fridge with a large range of temperatures inside.
There's a lot to like about this fridge. I like that there is no freezer unit, that it came with glass shelves, and that it holds a good amount of beverages as I'm using it as a beer and soda fridge. That said, the first couple of days I used it I noticed that the first couple of drinks I pulled out of it were extremely cold, but that others were quite warm. I initially installed a refrigerator thermometer on the top shelf, and noticed that it was hovering around the mid 40s - not even safe for food. Thinking I had a defective unit, I started packing it up to return it when I noticed that two of the cans near the back on the middle shelf were light, they had frozen and burst. To do a more complete temperature test I left small bowls of water on each shelf overnight, and then tested the temperature of each with a Thermapen. This is all on the highest cold setting. Top shelf was 44. Middle shelf was 38. Lower shelf was 32 (ice formed on the water near the back of this shelf) Drawer was 40 Middle of door was 41 It also seems to be pretty inconsistent. The temperature will drop quite a bit before the compressor will switch on for too long, and freeze items on the lower shelf. I'm going to run some more tests to check the temperature over a long period of time. Edit: I rigged up a small fan (https://www.amazon.com/AC-Infinity-MULTIFAN-Receiver-Playstation/dp/B00G05A2MU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467222711&sr=8-1&keywords=ac+infinity) at the back of the bottom shelf to circulate the air. This has kept the entire fridge around 35 degrees, and stopped the freezing near the back of the fridge. It seems like this should be a built in feature considering the poor temperature circulation of the fridge. ... show more

  • Great beer fridge
I purchased this fridge for my beer collection, and it works nearly perfectly. The top shelf holds two 64oz growlers, plus sixteen or so 12oz bottles, or a few 22oz ones. The bottom shelf doesn't hold bottles, but takes eighteen or more 16oz cans. The rear half of the middle shelf, slightly annoyingly, sits a bit high and won't accept most 12oz bottles without a bit of force. The front half of it, though, is perfect for 12oz bottles and holds fourteen or so of them. A few more can be wedged in the back if necessary, or some shorter bottles or more cans can be put back there. And of course the door is good for at least 8 cans, plus some 12 or 22oz bottles as well. More importantly, at its lowest (least cool) setting, the fridge maintains a perfect temperature of 45-50 degrees throughout, without the use of any external regulators. In light of that, as well as the sub-$200 price, I would not hesitate to recommend this fridge to anyone looking to keep some beer. ... show more

  • Perfect size for an office
This refrigerator has plenty of room. In our space, we don't need the freezer, and mini-fridges that have freezers are never that great, what's in the freezer isn't cold enough and they tend to frost things that are near them. The compartments are great, it has curves on the door shelfs so you can stick things in like cartons of milk or juice containers. The shelves are sturdy and I've got one shelf holding a 24-pack of water bottles without any problems. So far this has been a great fridge for us. I've included a picture that shows you how tall it is, when I was shopping I had no idea how tall it'd turn out. ... show more

  • Didn't manage to keep safe food temperatures. I determined it was defective with the rep and I was given a refund.
The fridge arrived in good condition but ultimately did not work properly. I did exactly what the instructions say that come included. This includes: waiting 6 hours before turning it on, using a 120 V outlet, using an outlet with nothing else using power from it, having 5 inches of clearance on all sides, having the fridge inside and with good air circulation, making sure the door is tightly sealed, and not putting too much warm food in at once. Once it failed to hold even around 40 degrees F on max cold setting, I did some tests to see what would make it work. I put it in the middle of the room with 5 feet clearance on all sides. I also had a fan blowing cold air on the various parts of the fridge. I tested the voltage of the outlet to make sure it worked. To make it even worse, I have nothing in the fridge to cool and it can only get around 45 degrees F. This isn't safe for keeping food. They even have mayo in the picture sitting in the fridge. I tested the fridge with a calibrated temperature gauge. It's readings match my full sized fridge and what its display reads. I put a couple of already cold drinks in the fridge and it lost it's mind. It actually rose 5 degrees F when I did that. The fridge does come with plenty of room to fit a lot of stuff and runs fairly silent. You can take shelves out and adjust them and easy to clean. No worries about water or frost buildup which is nice. To return it was simple. I selected return on my order and then selected to chat with an Amazon representative. I got asked a couple of questions and was given a refund. If you experience any problems consider what I did with mine and try to get a refund or replacement at no cost to you. The reason for the 1 out of 5 stars? What would you give for a unit that is defective? Should I just not write a review? The simple answer is I check the 1 star reviews before I buy a product what I might too encounter. It's been a while since I've gotten a defective appliance or electronic part. I expect them to work if no visible damage can be seen and the product has never been used. I'd also like to point out the "John" that commented in my review is the same "John" you see replying to other reviews saying he works for Danby and if he can do anything about it contact him to other customers but not me. ... show more
