Updated: after some back and forth, the seller has kindly given me the option to change the covers (the original ones cannot be removed but the replacement ones are used on top of the original mattresses). The now Burgundy color is as pictured, a saturated dark hue, and the black stitches and zipper match perfectly with this, so I guess my recommendation would be to stay away from the orange. Updated to 4 stars as it is a great comfortable product, but just be aware that due to the prohibitive return cost you will have to be totally sure this is the item/size/color you want as there is no margin for error! Original review: Description says ‘solid colors’ and shows bright saturated hues. In real life, the color looks faded (got the orange) and the stitches are contrasted and white, while the zipper is grayish-tan. Overall this make the item look on the cheap side and actually more of a slightly bleached outdoor lounge chair pad than a futon. To clarify, the highlights and zipper colors are all the same orange as the actual mattress in the (photoshopped) product pictures. Be aware that the return is at your charge and you have to pay for shipment, so make sure this is exactly what you want and don’t be picky about the looks or the actual color of the final product. If you are looking for functionality, they seem sturdy and not too soft, just like any regular futon mattress. ... show more

My son and his wife bought this in navy for me to sleep on when I visited them in Portland. It was so comfortable that I ordered this in brown and slept on it when they visited so they could have my room. There is not enough room for more than one adult on the futon. It is comfortable, easy to store and single sheet set fit it perfectly. I got the same wiener dog flannel sheet set they did at Costco for about $15. The futon arrived tightly packaged in a box and plastic wrap so I had a struggle pulling it out of the box. I decided to just carefully cut the box which worked for me. I planned to air it out for a couple weeks but this one did not have an odor that others have commented on. My sons did smell and he aired it out. I would never had guessed. Fine purchase, nice to have a back-up sleeping plan. I chose brown because I have dark wood furniture and thought it would be ok to leave it rolled up in the corner when not in use. The navy is more attractive but the brown more practical. I don't think you could go wrong with any of the colors offered. I now store it in my closet shelf with the sheets waiting for their next visit. ... show more

I think this would be great for someone under 150lbs and who is not a side sleeper. Looks great, rolls easily, semi-lightweight, and long enough for a 5'11" person. Cons: thin, slim, smelly at first but that goes away. I really don't like the sewn tassels. You can feel them when you lay on the matt. Easy to set up and use. Comfortable padding but very itchy and uncomfortable fabric on the surface; I covered it with one of those ultra-plush throws. After roughly a year of regular use -- e.g. lounging about 2 hours in the evening nearly every evening while doing spiritual work -- the area just below the "head pillow" fold has gotten quite flattened and is no longer cushy or comfy like it used to be. If both ends had a "pillow fold" it could have been rotated routinely so at least the wear/flattening would get evenly distributed over time (and it could have lasted another year that way I think) but as it stands, it's about worn out, and thus so is its welcome. I originally bought it as something to use on the floor to not have to sit/recline directly on the floor, but at this point there's little difference in how it feels anymore. ... show more
