This mattress is great. It comes vacuum sealed and rolled up so it is easy to move around. Once opened it takes shape fast and is ready to use in minutes. Ours looks great and is very comfy. It is thicker than other mattresses we have used but it is worth it for the comfort. This also means opening and closing the futon is harder just so you are aware. We did have one of the black decorations come off but we don't think it was the manufacturer's fault rather our excited dog. Overall this is a massive improvement to a cheap mattress while still being affordable, it looks great and was easy to get inside. We give it a perfect score ... show more

*3 week update- Took about 6 days from purchase to arrive. Came in a large bag rolled up. Isn’t totally vacuum sealed just tightly rolled. Once I removed the inner shrink wrap around it almost immediately came right back to a full 8 inches! About 7 1/2 along the outside rim but exactly 8 inches in the center. Fit perfectly on my full KD Studio frame I also got from Amazon separately It is as firm as expected as I had innerspring futon before. Will be perfect for seating and more firm for sleeping. There was no smell other than the newer linen smell that’s expected with any new furniture. as reported by others the Aqua color is a little more like a blue Jean color but still noticeably teal tint to it. The material is very high quality with a different fabric on bottom that stops it from sliding around. It’s stays put no problem on natural wood frame. I can’t speak to how comfortable the fabric is tho as I use afityed sheet and very thin topper on it. I have a total of 3 weeks of sitting and sleeping on this. I’m 6’3” 195lbs and it’s the perfect level of firmness for me. Doesn’t show any signs of wear or denting even tho I’m a side sleeper. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a firm, sturdy, and stylish futon with innerspring. ... show more

I had to replace the original mattress that came with futon and don’t think this one is as thick. It says 8” like original but doesn’t really look it. Also doesn’t seem to fit to all edges like original did. Couldn’t compare since I’d already gotten rid of original due to cat peeing on it, couldn’t get smell out. Also didn’t unwrap the same. This one was pretty easy and unrolled quickly without popping noises like original. Just doesn’t seem the same. But it is firm and comfortable. No complaints from guest that slept on it a week. Like with original I can’t get it to fold to put in sofa position. It’s on frame as instructed, it’s just it won’t move. I’ll have to get help and maybe someone on each end at same time can get into sofa position. ... show more

I bought this as a replacement and so far am very happy with it. The color is good, looks very blue in pictures but it is aqua. It has a backing on it that keeps this mattress in place. It doesn't slip or slide. I laid on it for a few minutes and it does feel comfortable but it has yet to be tested with a full night's sleep. I have it as a sofa and I have to say the hinges work nicely, no bunching up in the bend, as in the picture, it doesnt look like a folded mattress. I sat on it for about a half hour and it is very comfortable. If you're looking for a futon mattress, I recommend this one! The price is right, the color is great and its comfortable! ... show more

UPDATE: I was very upset to discover that the fabric has already developed a hole after only a few months use! (Attaching photo.) I live alone, no rambunctious small children, and my rescue cat was declawed when I adopted her, so there has been nothing to cause this problem. I was forced to darn the hole using a curved upholstery needle, and now will need to disguise it with a brown button similar to those on the mattress. I can't begin to say how disappointed and upset I am. Positives: This futon mattress fits my wooden frame perfectly (I don't know if it is a Kodiak frame, but it is similar to the frame pictured in the product photo). It does not slide forward, which has been a problem with my previous futon mattresses. Since I prefer firm mattresses and furniture, I find it very comfortable. The back is tall, making it easy to rest my head, as I tend to sprawl rather than sit. The fabric texture is excellent--not a slippery surface, but a thick weave. Negatives: When purchasing an item in which color will be important, I check that color on three screens: my laptop, my phone, and my Kindle Fire. On all three, the color pictured was much lighter than the mattress actually is. On the screens, it has a slight ivory overtone. In reality, it is greige--grey beige--and rather dark. I can live with it, but will almost certainly be putting a futon cover on it eventually. The color is the reason I am not giving the mattress five stars, although the overall quality is excellent. ... show more

This is the exact thing we were looking for. The exact replacement of our previous futon mattress. We bought one from somewhere else and it had no padding this one is comfortable. A little pricey but worth it. Glad i dont have to keep looking.
