There is not too much to say about these. It is a basic product that used to be quite common, but is becoming harder to get. They are "paper" matches in plain white match books. I took two books out of the pack of 50 and lit two of the matches from each pack. They all lit on the first or second strike and they burn fine inside. Outside you'd really have to protect them from the wind. These are pretty flat but if you needed a pack to be totally flat you could tear out one row of matches and then you could probably fit the remaining book of matches into a wallet or flat EDC pouch. There are plenty of matches to keep in drawers (with the candles), in the car, by the barbecue, on top of the water heater, next to the furnace, in a pocket, or to give away. It's 50 packs of 20 matches for just a few dollars. That's a thousand matches. At the price I paid, that means each light costs six-tenths of a cent. Each book of matches cost me thirteen cents. What else can you get that is this useful for thirteen cents?

Finally! Nobody gives out matchbooks anymore and I don't like the wooden stick ones. This is great for lighting candles lighting the grill, lighting the fireplace. Super glad I found these. Each book is very sturdy and less just great until you use the last match. The size is great to tuck away into a drawer or on the mantle without being noticed as they're all white. Beginning to think that people don't know how to use matches anymore cuz these were so hard to find but once you get the hang of it, super easy to use. Thrilled to have these on hand!!

The availability of products like this from Amazon, and for a very competitive price, is a case in point as to why online commerce is beating the pants off of "brick and mortar" retailers. After weeks of frustration trying to find them elsewhere, I was happy to order a bulk of fifty, which oughta hold me for a couple years :-) Matchbooks have disappeared from supermarket shelves, for reasons known only to high executives. You can still find wooden kitchen matches, whatever they're used for nowadays, and other relatively expensive overkill, but not matchbooks. Store managers just wring their hands and cry crocodile tears over not being able to obtain them from their brand-name supplier. Those behind the counters even of specialized "smoke shops" are likely to greet a request for matchbooks with a blank stare. How do they expect customers to use what they do sell if they can't light them? Maybe they propose fluid lighters instead-- but sorry, I'm a pipe smoker and these lighters char pipes, aside from their fumes tasting awful. Is that my fault? Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? Is one more small product among the hundreds or thousands they already carry too much to ask? I'm for free enterprise and all that, but it depends on our entrepreneurs actually being enterprising. Those who are not won't get my money (quite naturally) and deserve to lose. As illustrated above, those available here are plain white. That is fine, but I do notice that matches in the latter more often fail to light. My first thought was "Where's their quality control?" On second thought, perhaps quality control is working just fine, and what we have here are the rejects. This would explain the plain white (not branded) covers and the low price. Whether you want to buy this package depends on your budget. Amazon offers alternatives from the same company, presumably better, but at a higher price.

I have mixed feelings about these matches. I bought them a few years ago and they worked wonderfully. When I used them up, I repurchased them. But they were different it seems. They do not light as well. When you strike them, they do not always light. About a third of the matches in the matchbook don't light. But when I bought them years ago, they worked each time. I don't know if I got a bum batch or what. I will continue to use the ones I have but I I'm not sure if I will repurchase when I am looking for more matches. The price was great, but the quality wasn't the same as it was a few years ago.
