I've returned to Rico reeds after decades. Like many of the reviewers, I was always under the impression Rico reeds are for beginners, not consistent from one reed to another and that they don't produce good sound quality. They're what i played until middle school (decades ago) when I switched to Royal reeds. Recently, I watched a YouTube review where the reviewer explained Rico and LaVoz reeds (historically played by many professionals) are the exact same reeds. I bought some Rico reeds and found no difference. Rico reeds are excellent reeds for all level players. They are among my favorites. I read Amazon reviews saying they don't last, are of poor quality, smell, do/don't produce a bad smell, etc. After playing dozens of reed brands over the years, I can say none of that it true. These reeds are top level reeds at a price way lower than what they could be. There's no down side to these reeds. ... show more

Purchased these to try a firmer read. Most times I purchased a box, the reeds were very inconsistent. I often had to shave some of the down, so I just went with a 3 pack to see how comfortable they would play. Simply awesome! Reeds were all consistent and I love the difference in my sound.
