    • Great Little Machine so far!
As a former barista, I was looking for something a bit higher quality than the little cheap-o machines out there. I’ve only had this for a few days, so hopefully I won’t have to edit my review! Like a couple other people stated, the grinder is… persnickety to say the least. It did bog down, and cleaning it thoroughly did not fix it. The problem is, it doesn’t really like to grind smaller than the 7 setting. Anything smaller, the beans will stop the burrs in their tracks, and the grind chute will get clogged up. I had to take my milk thermometer and dig around up the chute to get it unclogged. I have been able to pull almost perfect pucks, but sometimes they stick to the head. I’ve never had that happen before, but not really a huge deal. I do get better crema when I use my other burr grinder, but I’m still trying to work with the one on the machine. Hopefully this helps the next person on the fence about spending a few hundred dollars on this machine. Overall, I really like it. ... show more

    • OK coffee, but
We had it for 2 days and the coffee grinder became packed and would not drip the grinds. Cleaning this caused a huge mess. Once cleaned the water pump that forces hot water through the grinds started erroring out. We now have to tamp the grinds with minimal pressure. Now the milk frother spits water 70% of the time, not steam. We fully clean the entire machine every time we use it. we are lost what to do. Send it back or? ... show more

As a novice espresso drinker, and never-before espresso machine user, I found the machine pretty easy to use after reading the manual and some trial and error. I like that it’s simple to understand. Even without the manual and videos, you could probably figure out how to make an espresso. While you could make a series of espressos, this machine is designed to be for single or double use. Once you do figure out what you like, you can save the setting for next time. I also like the large water reservoir, which is easy to take off and on, so I don’t have to refill it too often. The manual was helpful with how all the buttons worked, but I wish it had assumed that I knew nothing about coffee. It does include a description of why you would choose different grind sizes, but I still don’t understand how much milk I should be adding to the steamer for 1 or 2 shots of espresso. It says never to fill more than 1/3 full, but doesn’t give a recommendation for how much to use for various size drinks. I typically use this machine to make 1-2 shots of espresso, and often use the steam wand to add some foam. I usually add a blend of my favorite no-fat artificial creamer with milk and the result is a very creamy coffee beverage. I have yet to successfully make foam but that may be because I haven’t yet mastered the milk-to-steam ratio, or perhaps it’s not designed to foam, only froth. I dislike that there is cleanup after every use (coffee grounds, wiping off steaming wand) but I suppose this would be true of any espresso machine. I also don’t like having to wipe coffee grinds off of the espresso dispenser piece which has residue after every use (see picture). That being said, the stainless steel makes it very easy to wipe clean. For the non-espresso machine users like myself, I was kind of surprised that I couldn’t make a regular coffee with it. However, if you use the hot water function and add it to the espresso, you can make a caffe americano. Keep this in mind when considering your counter space if you have another coffee maker already. On that note, measure your counter to cabinet height before purchasing because with the coffee bean hopper, you might be cutting it close (see pictures). Overall, it looks fancy, easy to clean, must be cleaned often, and makes a tasty drink once you figure out what you like. ... show more
