Initially I used a Gallagher energizer. I Hooked up everything textbook. Fence showed 6500 volts so I assumed it was working. One day dog hit it pretty good nothing happened. For the heck of it I touched it and could barely feel anything. Long story short I tested ground readings everything came up perfect I was baffled so I bought a 5 joule from this company thinking the energizer was the only thing it could be even though the one I had was brand new out of the box. I have a 14 acer hobby farm. With 6 strand high tension wire fence. With pasture and property line there is a total for 5 ish miles of wire. I will say that if a chicken gets caught between a line and a welded wire fence the chicken will be un-alived. It's very powerful. I have been hit by it once. I'm sure I have superpowers now!!! You don't need more wires nor more videos on how to train your goats. You need a charger they respect. I bought an outside 3 outlet wifi smart plug so I can turn the unit on and off with Google. Helps when find shorts, which isn't terribly hard considering it sounds like the biggest bug zapper in the world. Even my most stubborn billy is now staying in. He is so quick when he jumps into, over, under the electric fence. Even after installing the young buck got out 4 more times. Since it's pulse I don't think it was hitting him. Not to mention when he takes flight he is not grounded so the shock wouldn't work. After I shut off the charger and parted the lines for him to walk through I noticed he was freaked out over the wires. My guess is the last time he hit those lines he got it good. One Key Feature of this Product is the Fence Charger is battery operated, and isn't 120v Outlet powered. You need a 12volt battery to run this fence charger. I assumed it was a A/C charger but it wasn't what I received. I received a battery powered Fence Charger. The Fence Charger seems to be well built, and sturdy. Has pretty robust hot and ground connections that run to the Fence itself. Also comes with a fold out hanger. But what it doesn't do is run off 120volts.
