I have been installing an AV Rack for my Media Room. In order to handle all the devices I am putting into this, I needed something with some Umph! I ran 2 20A circuits to under my staircase (Rack hides under stairs) it is a full 42U Rack, (I work in IT, price was right, a.k.a. Free!) Started connecting devices to this. Come to find out, I am going to have to purchase another one of these little PDU's, (Glad I ran 2 circuits) with all the network gear, Home Automation, and Multi-Media, I have run out of spots. My PDU arrived undamaged, and was in good packaging. To those that are worried about the 'splatter' paint job, well if you are putting this into a rack, you won't see it. It is one of those devices that you need but don't pay attention to. I would highly recommend this PDU to anyone, versatile and effective, and only takes up 1U of rack space. if you are like me, it is in the top most position in the back. Great product. ... show more

Start by saying great product: A previous user mentioned "lightning" protection... Please be aware that there really is no such thing.. Devices that are plugged in to any service outlet are subject to damage from lighting strike even if they are turned off. Lighting does not need a "wired" pathway to damage electronics, only an air gap it can jump. Devices should be "unplugged" during storms if you are worried about this type of issue. (above ground power lines are the issue here). Surge suppression is not "lightning" protection Cons: Now, only two caveats that come to mind here.. 1)The 20 amp service cord (maybe not exactly a bad thing) The heavy duty service plug requires a special 20amp outlet (one blade on outlet is crossways), this is because the unit has a GENEROUS amount of room for outlets and frankly, it should have a 20 amp service outlet to go with the plug. 2)LED's... I used this unit on a Middle-Atlantic home theater rack and it faces into a room. The LEDS provide decent enough "reading" light but when the screen rolls down, the lights are low, the power LED will allow you to read your tv guide.. suffice to say, a spot of black tape might be in order if this is for your home theater.. Pros: The pair of outlets on the front? genius.. I would suggest you order the "outlet savers" as well, these are mini 12" extension cords, they move bulky transformer plugs out of the way and allow you to fully utilize the available outlets.. Outlet savers are here SF Cable, 1ft 16 AWG Outlet Saver Power Extension Cord (NEMA 5-15R to NEMA 5-15P) Great product! ... show more

I got the 20 amp version with surge protection. Unlike other brands on Amazon this one actually has MOV circuit board! It's definitely thick wire and even though the white power switch cover feels loose and cheap, it's nice they include it and it works as intended.

I bought this for the long cord length and the higher current capability. I forgot about the plugs . . . 20 Amp circuits in the USA use a NEMA 6-20P plug and this will not fit a standard 15 Amp 5-20 socket. I cut the supplied 6-20 plug plug off and replaced it with a right angle 5-20 plug. Was it worth it? My opinion is yes. Installed in my rack enclosures, they eliminate a rat's nest of wiring and two power strips. I feel that is a much neater, safer solution, plus it made the Dragon Lady happy. For those people uncomfortable with a modification, adapters are available. Remember, either change will reduce the max current to 15 Amps. ... show more

Great deal on a great product. I recently needed to create a "mobile kitchen island" and attaching this to it I'm now able to move my mobile kitchen wherever I please. The 20A and heavy duty cord for this price is an extremely great value. All the outlets are 20A as well which is nice. There's also a reset button and power switch if you need them. The only thing missing is network capabilities, but for this price I didn't expect it to have it anyway. There does seem to be a shipping issue with this product though. The box it comes in is very thin and it seems to be thrown into another box that is barely bigger than the box it comes in. This means there's no padding for the rack mounts on the sides. Twice I've received bent rack mounts because of this. The first was bent all the way upon itself, making it unusable should I ever want to rack it. The second arrived slightly bent, but with the proper tools can be easily bent back so I decided to keep it. ... show more

This is a great rack mount, a bit prices for non-industrial application but works really well. Watch out for the type of outlet connector it has (this has sideway prong and vertical prong) I needed and adapter to plug it into the wall.
