  • High quality bike rack
Very good quality, nice looking bike rack. This is a sturdy rack and assembly was easy using the video provided with this listing. Well written instructions with plenty of pictures comes with the rack. Excellent!

  • A sturdy bike rack for the price.
For a light weight bike cargo rack, this rack is very sturdy. The assembly instructions are adequate but not great. It would help if a person has some prior experience in assembling items using nuts and machine screws. All needed parts for the assembly and for attachment to my non-disc brake bike were well packaged and complete. Also included with the parts were the two tools needed to put the rack together. My after market bicycle tail light/turn signal fit perfectly on the rear mounting bracket. A large red reflector is included in the package for those who do not have an actual tail light. I am happy with this purchase, and I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Great Rack (Check your bike for M5 or M6 thread size down by the gears)
Seems solid so far, great option for vertically challenged individuals for whom a seat post-mounted rack raises their seat too high. It comes with some spare hardware and a T-Adapter plate if you need single bolt mounting and don't have the two frame bolts on the outside under the seat. It's lightweight and has held up to me drilling through it (didn't have a choice, see below for sizing) so it's sturdy too. Great so far, and comes with an allen wrench and double sided spanner wrench, you won't need any additional tools unless you have to swap hardware like I did. 1. & 2.) Side shot & rear shot, holds a bag wider than it just fine, wide arms provide tire shelter for pannier bags 3.–5.) I was briefly concerned by brake cable proximity, but once you bend the support arms into mounting position, you should be fine, these are pictures of my brakes fully compressed, and you've got 3 long slots for adjustability. That, combined with the 3 heights for the base legs, gives you a great range of adjustments. I like that the 3 heights are threaded bolts, they aren't set bolts like many racks that just tighten on the inner shaft, they actually thread into it. The support arms are easy to bend on their own, takes a bit of grip strength to hold them in place with one hand to mount a bolt though. Each support arm mounts to the frame with one bolt, and they each mount to the rack with two bolts 6.) These pre-threaded holes on most bikes usually come either M5 or M6 size, this rack's provided bolts are M5 and my bike is M6. These are metrics, so you will not be able to use a standard equivalent. The upper support arms, my bike came with bolts in it so I was good there, but the lower ones didn't. Rather than returning it, I made a quick trip to the hardware store to replace the two provided M5x0.8x40 bolts with M6x1.0x40 ones. (0.8 and 1.0 are the standard thread sizes for those two diameters, just helps you look in the hardware store). I did have to drill out the bore to be a bit larger, starting with a 7/32 and finishing with a 15/64 auger bit fit perfectly (only had standard bits, not metric). You will need a vice to hold the hardware while you drill, so grab an M5 and M6 to test your bike before purchasing to know what you're getting into, if your bike doesn't have M5 bolt threads like this rack comes with, expect to buy 2 new bolts, 2 new washers, and 2 new lock washers, or shop for a rack that's got your size. All other hardware is mostly on the rack itself so you should be good. Hardware is cheap, those items cost me $5.21, and I already had auger bits and a vice ... show more

  • Fits a Giant Extra Large Mountain Bike
The Giant Talon bike requires the rack be fastened in front to the frame using an adapter plate and some chrome straps to reach the rack. It was tedious to be the straps installed because the plate they attach to is a tiny bit too wide for the straps to connect. However, the straps are bendable and a little effort enabled a strong connection. Also, the width of this rack fit the width of rear hub where it connects. I really like it and it appears strong. Additionally, it has a light bracket on the back where I added a small flashing LED red tail light. Neato! (I tried a rack that mounted to the seat post, but it left the rack too high above the rear tire. If you put a bike bag on that rack configuration you'll need ballet practice to get you leg over the bike!) ... show more

  • Good rack...with a twist
Okay...Good bike rack... and then the caveat. If you need a you tube video to demonstrate how to use a rotary phone then it may be more complicated for you as the supplied instructions are more of a suggestion. For those would be Macgyvers its a piece of cake. I used different bolts for mounting to the rear axle on my Chatham Retrospec 29" Beach Cruiser than what were supplied within the package. I have a threaded holes just for this purpose already as part of the bike design and didn't want to just use the supplied smaller bolts and nut. Not secure enough for me. You will need to know the thread pitch and in my case metric size and length needed to mount the brackets but not too long as to interfere with the wheel hub operation. I also needed to drill out the hole size in the supplied brackets to allow for the new bolts to pass through as they were larger in diameter. Added an interior locking nut for overkill - which is always under rated. Now that I've pretty much overthought this it's just standard operating procedures. ... show more

  • Sturdy rack. Nice addition to Specialized Roll.
Great fit on my Specialized Roll. Easy to install. I added the basket from the same manufacturer as the rack. Combined, adds about 7 lbs to bike. Non-issue for me, but might be worth nothing for someone. I definitely have to really swing my leg over my bike now though.

  • failed hardware
appears to be sturdy, but the hardware failed. A bolt snapped and is now stuck in the frame of my bike, if I drill through it I will destroy the threading on my frame, I never had more than fifteen pounds attached to the rack
