    • Nice cutting surface and practical size

Our 500sf cabin has a kitchenette with 22" of countertop. It seems like there's always something pushed to the back of the counter, so I needed a cutting board that would take up only the front half yet give me a large enough surface to use a big knife. The medium (14.5" x 10.8") size is perfect for that. Our tiny counter has a smooth, solid surface (Corian), so I also needed a board that would not slip while I'm using it. There really isn't much texturing on the board surface, but there is just enough to keep it in place. That texturing also does a good job of helping hold the food while chopping, and it helps the knife blade cut completely through the food. The flip side of the board gripping the counter is that it can become "stuck" to a wet counter. In our case, the counter has a bullnose edge, so it's easy to slide the board off the edge to release it. The material really doesn't seem like wood. It looks and acts more like plastic. Like plastic cutting boards, this one tends to get an arc/warp to it after you've used it a few times. Generally, once the board has an arc, you need to place it so the warp creates a convex surface; otherwise , the board will wobble or spin while you try to use it. I did that with this board, and it flattened out again! My guess is that the wood absorbed some of the water that was trapped between the bottom side and the counter, causing it to swell in the other direction. I imagine I will be flipping it back and forth over time, which is nice in that both sides will get evenly used. Overall, I'm happy with this cutting board, and I would recommend it to friends. ... show more

I showed this to my wife after taking it out of the delivery bag. Her first reaction was, "Wow, that looks really nice!". I agree, We have a lot of different types of cutting boards, but this one looks the best, and not just because it's relatively new. It's been through the dishwasher on hot with no changes to appearance. It is flat, so we'll be using it more for produce and cheeses rather than meats where it is kind of nice to have a groove near the edges. Overall very happy with it so far. This is not my first wood fiber cutting board. I've been using them for years. They are easier on your knives, while still being dishwasher safe. I also like that they last much longer than plastic, are lighter than wood, and are rigid and easy to move without spilling. This is a typical wood fiber cutting board. I used it when making dinner tonight, and it held up well with no knife marks or staining after use. It is finished well, and it feels sturdy. I'm quite happy with a new board to add to the rotation, and this one seems to be of the same good quality as my other boards. ... show more

Made in China from "Food-Grade Pine Wood fiber," this board is identical on both sides, has an unstained wood color, but is without grain. The board is perfectly smooth but does not skid around easily on a granite countertop. Note that there's no ring around the edge for catching runoff liquid on this model - the company sells other cutting boards that do have such rings.
