This is my second DIY bookshelf kit. It's light years easier than the first one I purchased, and it turned out so nice! Okay. The directions that come with this are amazing. Everything is labeled well. It's in color. It's almost fool proof. There are only a couple of times when I messed up, but they were on little tiny parts, that I was able to remove and do over. Almost every delicate or small piece in this kit has a back-up, and you will be thankful about that. (Some other kits have almost no back-up pieces, which is frustrating). Snapping pieces into place, especially the thin ones, you will likely break at least one. Some pieces will tend to be difficult. I used my thumbs, and ruined my thumb nail trying to put pieces into place. LOL I do tend to use glue to hold most pieces down, just in case. Regular glue (or some cheap wood glue) works perfectly. Many pieces don't really need it, though. This kit has the wiring all ready to go. You don't need to do any soldering, or taping of wires. WOO HOO!! The last time I did a DIY kit, I had to have my husband help entirely with the lighting. This time, it was so much easier. I did it 100% by myself! And it all works! LOL It's touch lighting, which is awesome. I wasn't sure how it would work, because the mechanism is on the other side of the wood. But it really does. So cool! The colors on this are beautiful. It all comes together so nice! Very professional looking. It even has a dust cover that slides into place. I absolutely love this kit, and want to send it to my cousin and her kids. It's a fun family activity, or one that pretty much anyone could do 100% on their own. You'll be so impressed with it- and with yourself!- when its finished! ... show more

I really like these miniatures by this manufacturer, the pieces are really sturdy so you rarely have to be concerned about accidentally breaking or damaging them when putting it together. You will have to be careful with the parts that are long and thin though like the bars on the windows. There were no missing or damaged pieces when the set arrived and instructions were clear and easy to follow. There is no glue included as noted in the product description so make sure you get a glue that will work well with wood pieces. Since the pieces are sturdy there is some room for error and you should be able to pull the pieces back off to adjust positioning if you make a mistake, so this set can be pretty good for beginners. ... show more

This kit is unique not only for the front opening doors but the size. It’s much smaller than most nook books. The pieces aren’t really smaller inside but the height and width is smaller. It went together easy and quickly. Be careful removing the pieces from the board as they can break easily. Do keep your glue handy as the tabs in most of it are loose and you will need to glue to hold it together. Plus there are pieces that need gluing anyway. I like the cosy feel inside and the big window. It comes with plastic for the inside front doors and for the top opening. You are suppose to put the top plastic inside where it won’t be seen but I like to place mine on top to stop dust from collecting inside the design. I just got into these kinds of activities and I really liked the look of this so I decided to dump some time and cash into it. When it arrived it was wrapped up pretty well and neatly packaged where you knew what you would need and where it would be. I only had two problems that caused me some trouble. Some of the decals on the cutouts were printed wonky and the wires were impossible to hide from being displayed. Some items had the image printed perfectly and other were only half on, wires are a little hard to hide and even if you get them to fit they'll stick out to the side but overall it's beautiful and a nice addition on the shelf. ... show more

Great product! It was fairly easy to put together. This is the first kit that I've put together that has doors on the front and I really like that there is a little lock for the door to keep them from opening on their own. The kit lights up from the inside with a cleverly hidden touch button at the top of the box. The wires for the lights are pre-assembled which makes putting it together so easy since you don't have to try and twist wires together like in other kits (which sometimes leads to lights that may not work and much frustration). Some of the wood pieces may be a little bit loose when you put them together. I would recommend using some modeling glue or super glue. This kit didn't come with glue and to be fair, you probably don't need it, but I like to make sure that my pieces are placed and stay in place (like the little teacup on the round table - I didn't want that to move so I glued it down). It's a really charming addition to my other book nooks and I love all the little details from the books to the carpet to the cat. It looks like a Victorian bookshop. This kit took approximately five hours to assemble and is wonderfully appropriate for kids to put together. ... show more
