  • fit perfectly and very visually appealing.
this is got to be one of the best looking class three receivers I've seen for the ranger, once installed it is very discreet and blends in well. some of the other designs are ugly and very obtrusive. The bent tubular design conceals most of the hitch well underneath the vehicle, the only part that you can really see is the receiver portion so it maintains the clean lines of the truck. It also mounts very quickly. My truck did not have the two forward holes so I had to drill them. laying on your back in a gravel driveway drilling 1/2-in holes in a steel frame is quite entertaining. I had to put my welding gloves on, my long sleeve welding shirt, and a full face shield along with eye protection underneath the face shield. nothing like having red hot molten embers of steel landing on your arm and face. But seriously folks this would be very dangerous to do without the proper safety gear so if you don't have the safety gear or the tools to drill two holes in your frame then you better climb underneath your truck and make sure that all four holes are present. obviously you're going to have The two most rearward holes as they are used to hold the bumper in place. There are two more holes that either need to be drilled or should already be there in front of the rear most bumper bracket bolts. The bumper will have four bolts already two of which will be used to hold the rear of the receiver, two will stay in place and you will add two more so there will be a total of six holes four holes which you will use for the hitch. I found the easiest way to drill the two holes was to use a small punch to mark the center of each hole. then use a small drill to drill a pilot hole. I then switch to a cobalt steel step bit, The cobalt steel step bit cuts through the frame steel-like butter but they're kind of expensive at $45 each. You can pick up an inexpensive set of titanium nitrite coated step bit from Amazon which will also work The only difference is those bits are throw away. once the titanium nitrite coating wears off you just throw them in the trash. But they're cheap enough. The hitch is actually much easier to install than it seems. One thing I've noticed that several reviewers have done was that they failed to use the included hardware to mount the hitch instead they used the existing bumper mounting hardware. Do not do this, you must remove the D clips and use the provided hardware. There are are load spacers specifically engineered and designed to spread the load out on the frame. The D nuts and hardware used to mount the bumper are nowhere near strong enough to mount a class 3 hitch. If you use the bumper hardware rather than the included hardware then your class 3 hitch will actually have a lower tow rating than your bumper hitch. So once again it's critical that you use the included hardware to mount the hitch. again with that said this is a Well engineered hitch.. ... show more

  • 2003 Ranger
This was a breeze to install on my 2003 Ford Ranger. The instructions were accurate and easy to follow. No drilling required. The product is well built and made in America. Great product!!!

  • Great Quality!
Sturdy, I'm very confident it will work for our needs to pull our trailers. Very easy to install with easy to understand instructions. Bolted right up without having to drill holes into the frame and didn't have to drop or remove the spare tire on a 2001 Ford Ranger. Remove two original bumper support bolts and original nut clips. Four new bolts and six spacers to mount the hitch and your done! Was able to do it by myself. ... show more

  • 2001 Ford Ranger XLT supercab 4.0l 2wd Easy install
The install was super easy as most people commented on in their reviews. I thought I'd go through the install for this model of truck. You first remove the most rear bolts that bolt your bumper to the frame. This was the most difficult part for me as the clips that hold these bolts in have to be removed too, and they had some corrosion gluing them in. I banged them out with a large flat screw driver. After removing those two bolts you can then hang you bumper from them-leave the forward bolts till last--using the shims provided. Make sure to look at the direction on how to intall the shims. the rear bolts only take one shim but the rear ones take two, one above the bolt and one between the frame and the hitch. This second shim in the forward bolts compensates for the gap left by the bumper frame rail. once you have all the shims and bolts fitted torch the bolts down to 110lbs. I admit I skipped this part and seated them pretty hard with an impact driver. I have a bad back and I felt comfortable that they were seated well. You should check them for looseness after your first few hauls regardless. Took me about 45 minutes by myself and a lot of that time was collecting my tools. Great buy and fits the truck perfectly. ... show more

  • Ranger 2002 more work
The receiver is worth the price for its heavy construction. The instructions show a simple enough installation where you just remove two existing bolts from the frame/bumper and fit the receiver, HOWEVER, the receiver hitch wouldn't fit my Ranger 2002 with step bumper as instructions provided. I had to remove all four original bolts and lower bumper, install receiver with two forward bolts included and then install bumper. Bumper forward original bolts don't line up so some drilling is required. Once done, looks fantastic. ... show more

  • Perfect fit
The perfect fit, everything aligned there were no missing parts. It is a very sturdy and strong product. I am very pleased with how it been working. As far as the weight, it weights as much as it should. It works and I will be buying another for my other vehicle.

  • Very pleased
I was very pleased with this product. It is very well made and packaged to protect it from getting scratched during delivery. The instructions were a little underwhelming. But, the maker of the product has a video on how to install this exact hitch on my truck on YouTube. I would say this is a two person installation. It can be done with 1 person (I installed it by myself). But, it would have gone much faster with two. You definitely want to lower the spare tire out of the way to do this installation. There are two bolts that require access to areas you cannot get to with a spare tire underneath the truck. The installation took about 45 minutes to an hour and I consider myself a novice. You need a 3/4 socket nut as well as a socket wrench for installation. One of the things I was most pleased is that per the listing for my truck (2002 Ford Ranger) it didn’t require any drilling into the frame. All the hardware was included and this was a great deal for the quality of the hitch. I would say that I would buy it again but I already bought other items from this manufacturer to go along with the receiver hitch. Please forgive me if I got that term wrong. I’ve never actually towed anything before and not 100% on the terms. ... show more
