I did a lot of research before buying from this vendor, and the quality is likely superior for the following reasons: Metal propeller. Other products have a plastic prop and include a backup one, which is a red flag to me Propeller protector. That seems like a nice add-on Adjustable handle. This upgrade works very well. 4-stroke. Allowed on more lakes, less pollution, no mixing oil and gas Other reviews mentioned customer service, I had a question and they answered promptly and thoroughly It is also taller than some other engines in the same price range Nothing has broken and it runs great so far! It's definitely a budget product, so I don't expect it to work as well as a $1000 Honda motor, but it gets the job done! Edit after a summer of (ab)use: The propeller protector broke off. The engine also randomly skips or sputters, so I'm guessing it just needs to get tuned up or something, which I won't do. I literally dumped this engine in the water a few times and it still runs fine. The throttle spring is now loose so sometimes the engine won't slow down completely. Overall it's very reliable and won't break down, which is very nice to have with a four-stroke in this price range. If you aren't as concerned about reliability, you could look for a similar price range for a used four-stroke that would require more maintenance, and probably give better performance. If you want something cheap and reliable with almost zero maintenance, this is your motor. It's so nice to have this new reliable motor that's cheap enough to not worry if I destroy it.

I ran it in brackish water. It rusted like crazy. The throttle failed. I knew it was a throw away, but this is ridiculous. Three hours to useless !!! Pay up for brand name like Suzuki, Honda or ANYTHING else only $800 You are paying half for an engine with 1,000'th the life. Captain Rodney, reporting from Pemlico sound.

Use this on a 10’ dinghy to get me down the river into the bar to crab. It’s always started within two pulls and barely takes any gas at all.

Update: customer service is sending me a new filter, and after installing a rubber gasket at the handle. Engine working good. To begin, I received this motor covered in oil. once all cleaned up and fired up. it was leaking oil from the filter. not a good purchase.

My CUKUSIN Outboard Motor Boat Engine quit running so I contacted support. My friends at support were basically aghast and rush shipped the part to me which was a breeze to install. I just put the motor back up a few minutes ago and it's running like a top again. I want to mention something here. The design of the CUKUSIN Outboard Motor is relatively simple. In the event something breaks they have a website and first class support. My son and a friend from church came over and we had a pleasant visit while fixing the problem. I use it on a Sundolphin 8.5 foot pond prowling boat.

Shipping was quick. The light weight 4hp Cukusin Model 144 was shipped quickly. The plastic engine shroud and a few other items were damaged in shipping. Cukusin customer support worked with me to get all issues resolved. Put it on a 2 man Craftsman Crawdad boat. On the first trip out, we were able to maneuver to some prime fishing spots along the river. We caught over 30 fish that day. The motor pushed the boat upriver adequately. It is not a speed boat motor. Glad I bought it.

The media could not be loaded. EL motor comenzo bien y cumplio con las espectativas de ir lejos a una velocidad de casi 8km/h en mi kayak. 200ml de aceite añadidos como dice el manual, se dejo calentando como dice el manual bien, la tapa del filtro de aire se caia con la vibracion y se puso una brida para evitar se caiga en el mar, a los 20 minutos de ancendido variando la velocidad entre media y alta velocidad en medio del mar comenzo una Fuga de aceite el primer dia de uso. alguna idea? al llegar a tierra casi estaba sin aceite el motor. El 2ndo uso se daño el embrague y el acoplador. La garantia funciono bien y enviaron lo necesario. Todavia esperando que llegue todo.

While the motor is cheep and other customers have had mixed experiences, I ran into the problem of not being able to locate the serial number on the motor & the phone number listed on cukusin's website goes straight to voicemail and no one answers. The motor did not come with a manufacture statement of origin nor a signed bill of sale which are both needed to be registered in the state of Texas. I now how to go through a bunch of paperwork, provide proof I did my best to contact the manufacture, get a signed affidavit, and even more paperwork to get this chinese motor legally registered. Keep these things in mind if you are looking at this motor. Edit: I've been contacted via email and being mailed all the paperwork i asked for. I will update it to 3 stars and will give more feedback when I get to use the motor
