  • Must buy Kayakers
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
This is a really good motor! It runs really well and it’s very easy to put it together and not complete to use. It’s lite and convenient for anyone who wants a good motor at an affordable price. You can’t beat it and Kayakers like me this motor does it. I thank you and give it a 10 stars.

  • Great little motor for the price
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
The media could not be loaded. Great little motor. Not the fastest and a little noisy but for under $300 it starts every time, weight nothing and gets me around great. I have a little 10ft v hull and I get up to around 7/8 mph on calm water. Definitely recommend.

  • Does not work to specifications
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
Bought it way before needing. Just started using. Engine will not run more than about 1/3 throttle at which point engine cuts out. I am using on the Delaware River near Phila. At speed allowed by throttle boat can barely make headway against the tide. I tried Emailing the co. But not as yet received a reply. I will say that it starts easily, on 1st or 2nd pull. I am not comfortable going out due to fear of being stranded. I expected more from engine. I had a Hanga 4 hp and was much more impressed. I may try to fix myself but that will probably void my warrenty, but the fact I haven’t Heard back from the company yet give me no confidence in their warrenty. ... show more

  • Great motor, well worth the price!
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
I received and installed the motor on my boat and was pleasantly impressed with this little motor, started right up and is better built than what I expected it to be. The prop is metal which is nice. Pushes the boat (a 12’ Jon boat) through the water at impressive speed. A lot more than I expected. Definitely recommend! ... show more

  • 4HP Motor
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
The media could not be loaded. Installation was real easy and super light motor. It’s good for the pice. After a couple of hours it finally got to 8mph without current but for the first hour or two it was 2mph, then 5mph, 6mph and then 8 so there is a good break in period. The life jacket is NOT coast guard approved so not allowed in the United States. It’s 4 HP so you don’t need to title it in the state of South Carolina. It does NOT have a kill switch or a way to do one without wiring so that’s why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. In the United States you must have a kill switch. You don’t need mechanic on experience to install motor but will need some experience to add a kill switch but overall had a good time with this motor. Installed on 1970 14ft Jon boat. Edit: the motor had some problems, the spark plug was not gapped properly, the fuel screw on carburetor was not adjusted, and the fuel lines were wrong just need to swap them from tank to carburetor. Easy fixes. The engine does overheat in 4 hours of on and off running but what can you expect with that price. There are leaks near the propeller and one where the air filter is getting soaked. Cheap outboard to get you on the water where its calm water just make sure you have a paddle just incase. ... show more

  • Not geared right
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
Motor is light weight and cranks easily. Clutch wont kick in until at least 1/2 throttle and on my 8ft 90lb boat, Im lucky to get 5mph. Does not seem geared right for appropriate RPMs. I spend many hours a week on different boats and I was kind of hoping for a great find with this but it will probably end up being a dust collector. ... show more

  • 8 mile trip on intex excursion 5.
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
The media could not be loaded. I have this mounted on an intex excursion 5. The boat was slightly modified to handle this motor. A good motor with very few issues for me but maybe some big problems for others. The good: this motor comes with gear oil installed. Its faster and goes farther than a trolling motor. It runs on gas, not premix. It survived an 8 mile round trip and only used about 1/3 of the tank. Got me through some choppy waters! I also did not add any oil when I got it and made it run 8 miles. And its still alive somehow. Valvoline MARINE GRADE 10w-30, btw. Not even a quart. The big bad: it didn't come with the right hardware for the handle. The bolt was too short to make it thru the mount and be screwed on with a nut the bolt was too fat for the handle and too short to be dirextly mounted they gave a nut to screw together with but screw wasnt long enough. Either drill out the handle hole and use the bolt to thread it in, or use a longer bolt that fits the nut that came with it. I used a longer bolt. The bad for maybe just me: The kill switch wire is very exposed. I already broke the negative wire off when it hit my transom when steering against current. If the handle was longer it would be fine. If youre not using an explorer 5, this won't be an issue maybe. I likely have this issue because of my choice in boat though. Notes: The carb needs a tune. Theres no way to consider where this motor would be used. Its not for ocean so for lakes it can depend on elevation where your mix screw should be. But you can do this without ANY disassembly and 1 tool theh provide. There is a mix screw on the top of the carb, they provide a screwdriver perfect for this job. Give it whatever throttle its stable at and slowly rotate the brass flathead mix screw to where it sounds most stable. Then try more throttle. Continue to tune it until its stable at both full throttle and idle. When tuned right it'll sound like my video after my trip. The airbox is finicky. You have to compress it into its spot locking two clips in place THEN screw it on. This motor made it 8 miles with an airleak because I reattached it wrong. But it had no oil, air leak, bad tune, STILL it ran 8 miles. 6mph with current. Which is wild because of the bad tune and air leak. Life jacket is not USCG approved so it should be brought as a backup only. Overall though, if you think youre limited to electric trolling motors, youre not. This little motor will probably still work for you if you brace the boat properly. If my boat pops i can just slap this bad boy on a new one. ... show more

  • Protect from excessive heat
Color: 4hp with Lifejacket
Good outboard if you use instructions. I insulate the ignition wires from heat with fiberglass sheet and aluminum tape to shield heat from hottest engine areas when running. I use a clear adhesive silicone to caulk electrical connections and switch from salt air. Salt air works fast to break down any metal. Cover engine when possible. Shield from excessive salt air and spray. Try to keep outboard engine upright when storing. Follow instructions for laying down horizontal. Don't over tax engine speed. Vary speeds. Check oil frequently. I am enjoying this engine this summer very much. ... show more
