  • Fun machine even for adults
It has been a hot summer where I live and a cool snow cone is refreshing. This machine is so easy to set up and use and found that two large ice cubes will make enough shaved ice for one cone. The plastic cups that come with this can be used alone or I put paper cones inside as those always tend to either leak or get soggy before finishing cone. But inside plastic one works great. The scoup works well especially to put a rounded top though it is good to do that over sink. And enough left for my dog to enjoy the shaved ice too! Syrup from Amazon very good but anyone who has to watch sugar should note most of these are 20% of daily sugar so prediabetic and diabetic may want to find syrup with less sugar. All told I am very happy with this purchase. I am enjoying it and now my children and grandchildren will enjoy when come to visit.Ok now I feel bit stupid but perhaps others may run into same problem. Found that after use best to leave the ice tray out to dry. I did that and then when making another found machine would not turn on. Thought maybe circuit breaker but then realized I had not put the tray back in. A safety feature obviously. Just in case you run into this good to know. ... show more

  • Very Nice Snow Cone Machine
We love this machine! I looked at different models for a long time and I’m glad we chose this one. It isn’t too big nor bulky nor heavy. Fits very easily on the counter and in the cupboard. It’s very easy to use. The ice doesn’t get shaved like snow but I still really like it and have used it throughout the summer with no problems. ... show more

  • Great for summer ice treats !
Loved this ice shaver !!! This item was the center of my tropical ice treats ... it was easy to assemble, reliable and fast in preparing shaved ice. The noise from the machine is tolerable and produces no unpleasant taste. This is a great value for my money.

  • I like it a lot, but I don’t love it. Honest review from a real person with no incentive.
I spent a LOT of time reading online reviews before purchasing this snow cone maker. I ruled out other snow cone makers/shavers that had a spout with a dish because I didn’t want a mess. I ruled out the ones with the dishes where you have to freeze the water first and only those dishes fit in the machine and make just 1 snow cone. I like that I can just put ice cubes in the shute without a “mold”. And I like that it is Cuisinart brand. That was definitely a factor. Based on reviews, I was expecting it to be much louder than it is. I’ve had blenders that are much louder. It is by no means quiet, but it is not so loud that someone can’t hear the tv in the next room. I WAS hoping it would produce snowy, fluffy ice. It is close, but it does not. It produces ice crystals about the size of himalayan salt granules, but since it is ice, it melts quickly. it does have to be chewed right out of the cone or sucked until it melts. It is VERY easy to clean the machine and get started. Wipe down the main unit, wash the removable bin, scooper and reusable cones with soap and water. I love that it has a catch bin; however, the inside edges are grooved with a 1” “margin” on the inside, so the scoop can’t get the ice there. I have to remove the bin and pour the remaining ice into the scoop. Not a big deal, but a flat bin would be easier. I also love that it comes with a few reusable cones. The paper cones were smushed a bit even though they were packaged inside the plastic cones. The 4 cone holders on either side are very convenient. Based on reviews, I was also worried about the plastic “plunger”. I get why it’s plastic. It absorbs the vibrations of the crushing. I put 6-8 ice cubes in the chute to make 1 cone. That is the capacity of the chute, but the bin can hold multiple rounds of 8 ice cubes. With the chute open. I flip the switch on. There is a safety mechanism so it doesn’t do anything until you flip the plunger lever over so the chute is covered. Then it starts crushing ice. It only requires gentle pressure to push the cubes down, so I am not concerned about the plastic “plunger/lever” breaking as some reviewers thought might happen. The scooper makes a perfectly rounded cone. I wish it came with some sample syrup flavors. I had to buy those separately. There are a few recipes in the instruction booklet, so you can make your own flavors with powdered drink mixes, fruit juice, etc. or just eat it plain. This is a great, refreshing alternative to ice cream. I used to freeze water in ice cube trays and set a timer for an hour to eat ice while it was still thin and chewable. This is so much better! Glad I got it for 32% off on Prime Day. $53 is a good price. I probably would not buy it at $75. ... show more

  • Thrilled..just plain thrilled!!!
Thrilled! Finally, something that is making ice for "snow balls" not "snow cones". For me there is a difference. If you want shaved ice....look elsewhere. This is more coarse...which is what i grew up on for snowballs, not the fine snow like stuff. I had bought something previously (costing 2 1/2 times as much) that unfortunately made snowy stuff from a bell type chute. When it came out, no matter what sized cup i had, it would spray snow all over the kitchen floor. This is contained...perfect. NOTE: D0 NOT put already crushed ice from your fridge because you think it will help. It doesn't. the fridge crushed ice seems to make it think it is already crushed so sends it through (if my fridge made crushed ice like a liked it i would stick with that...but it doesn't). So, moral of this story is..... it likes to start with ice cubes whole. Our ice cubs are not huge so i can't talk on that. But rather medium sized ice cubes. And it was PERFECT when they were crushed. I am thrilleed...seriously. I have not had a "real" snow ball since I left Baltimore in 1965. Everyone else in Florida or Texas where i have been have snow cones or Italian ice etc. NOPE:. I already had flavorings from the previous $200 machine i hated. So we started off with a Cherry snow ball and then we tried Blue Raspberry. YUM. I am using no calorie syrups as well. It reasonably quiet (quieter than the other $200 machine) and far easier to deal with. Oh...and it is very very light weight. So just don't forget don't use crushed ice to put in it....it will not come out right. But use regular ice cubes and let it do the work for you. I'd give this 10 stars if I could. ... show more

  • Great at home snowballs
So far so great. Does exactly what it promises. Not a fine “shaved ice” that some like, but quality snowball nonetheless. I will note this thing is not to operated by youngins. It’s powerful and jumps and hops a bit while in operation, also quite loud. That said it’s still great and awesome for a home treat. ... show more

Bought this for my teen son’s birthday party. It was a hit, easy to use and no mess. I got the syrups and paper cups for a fun experience.

  • Great for what you pay for!
I needed this to make my own frappuccino drinks like Starbucks. I could not find a blender that would crush ice so this was the perfect solution. When I ordered it, it was $80 and then it was discounted to $63 two days later. In the past. I have contacted Amazon before and as long as it's still in shipment, they can refund you the sale difference. But this time Amazon said just return it and order it at the new price. There was a $20 snow cone maker but it was like the old fashioned pencil sharpener, just a crank on the side. Just thinking about it, that would be too labor intensive, so for only $40 more this was definitely a much more practical solution. If you put giant cubes in it, it seems to take a lot longer. I do question the stability of it since the handle is plastic, but I just put maybe one or 2 lb of pressure on it and it seems to grind it just fine. If I put the ice cubes in a gallon Ziploc bag and bang it against the floor a couple times, it breaks it up to where it'll crush up the ice much quicker. There are some stray chunks to where it's not fine powder like the main portion of it. That's the only downside, although if you want a professional one, there are stainless steel ones between $200 and $300. If you're on a budget, this is definitely the item to pick. ... show more
