  • Love these knives!
Owned for 2 months. This might be my favorite ever set of knives. They are INSANELY sharp out of the box! DANGEROUSLY SO. Fillet anything including one layer of skin sharp. Best not to let anyone who isn't VERY experienced with knives use them until you break them in. I actually like these more than JA Henckel classic forged. They feel better in the hand and seem to be of better quality steel as I left both brand new chef knives next to each other on the edge of my sink for 2 days (I know, 😬) When I washed them both the Cuisinart was stain free and JA Henckel has 15 tiny rust spots now. I can get them off, but still, Cuisinart had zero. The handles are comfortable! I was concerned about the roundness of the edges and whether or not they might slip in my hand, but not even once. Fantastic knives! 2 gripes (but still warrants the 5 start review). One, the position of the scissors. When the chef knife is drawn in or out of the block the blade edge can hit the scissor handle. I feel over time this will dull the blade so I've had to remove the scissors from the block. Two, I don't love the paring knife! It's just a normal, simple paring knife, but I don't like it. I think the metal is too thick. It's too hefty? I really don't know how else to describe it. Peeling potatoes or apples...meh, I have a thinner, cheaper paring knife in my drawer that I use. But if those are the only two faults I can find... I'm still calling this a WIN! ... show more

  • Rust
The knives arrived very sharp, but they are rusting and they get dull very quickly.

  • Good knife set
We like the knives and the assortment that's provided. It fits our basic needs very well and was a good replacement for a 30-year old Chicago Cutlery set we were replacing. The only downside was the wood block. It's nice and looks good, but the angle is more vertical than we like. We have a relatively new house with cabinets at the typical height above our counter, but the knives needed to be pulled more up than forward to be removed. This often led to banging the back of your hand on the underside of the cabinet when the block was seated under the cabinets up against the backsplash. I added a small block of wood under the back of the holder to pitch it forward a bit and that has made it much more usable. So I am deducting a star for that slight design flaw. It could have been angled a bit more forward without causing any other issues. Depending on your intended placement, it may not even be an issue for you. Other than that, the block itself and the knives have worked well for us for the past few weeks since ordering. Recommended! ... show more

  • Disappointed in Cuisinart Customer Service
I purchased this knife set at Christmas. One of the steak knives came bent. I've tried for 2 days to contact Cuisinart Customer Service so they could send me a replacement knife. After repeatedly trying, I was FINALLY able to leave a call back number, and a representative did call back. When I explained my situation, she told me she could see that I had registered the set online, and she put me on hold. SHE NEVER CAME BACK. I would not purchase from Cuisinart again, just because of their lack of Customer Service. UPDATE: After 2 days of repeated calling and 2 emails sent, I was finally able to have my situation addressed. Cuisinart is sending the replacement knife. Such poor Customer Service from a brand-name company is disappointing. 2nd Update: My replacement knife came yesterday, almost 6 weeks after I first requested the replacement. I had been told I would receive the knife in 7-10 business days. On the upside - Cuisinart did send a complete set of 6 steak knives - that actually matched my set better than the originals!!!! ... show more

  • Great FORGED knife starter set.
After doing quite a bit of research on knife sets under $100, I found this gem. I bought them on PrimeDay (They were on sale for $65 and I got $15 coupons due to prime day offers! Thus, I paid only $49.99! As for the knives, all you need is 3 main knives, the Chef knife, A serrated bread knife, and a pairing knife. This set has all of them and they are FORGED knives! This means one piece of steel was used to create the knife instead of two. That is just an amazing feature and for $49.99 it was the BEST bang for my buck! The cons, the steak knives are NOT forged knives, they have cast knives, (2 pieces put together) However, they are SHARP, and a good set. All in all, I was looking for a cheap set of knives and this proved to be an amazing starter set for the price. It honestly can't be beaten. In fact, at $80 it is still a bargain. Therefore, I highly recommend this set of knives. Besides the steak knives, the rest of them are all forged knives so it is quite a good deal. The chef knife has good balance and good weight to it. When sharp it slices everything like butter so that is what you want in a knife! Pairing knife is good, and the serrated knife cuts bread like a champ! I highly recommend this set and I hope you enjoy it as well! ... show more
