i have never laid eyes on knives as beautiful as these... its sharp, designed beautifully, and durable... if thats what you are looking for in a knife, look no further because these will be the best you get for this price range. however the steak knives are a little bit thin for my liking but because its so beautifully designed its makes up for it. These knives are a great buy for yourself or for a gift. I like the holder especially since it's very sleek and doesn't take up much space on the counter top. The holder is not wooden so you don't have to be concerned about bacteria and mold inside the wooden knife holder. The knives have a great feel in your hands. They are very sharp and easy to clean. Just don't leave them in the sink. The mini santoku knife is so nice and can be used as a multipurpose knife. All in all, for the home cook and anyone who appreciates great knives or just starting out with learning how to use professional knives, this set is a great way to go. Love these knives! After reading countless reviews, I decided to go with these. I could not be more pleased with my purchase. I've had them for several months now and they are still sharp as the day I bought them and still look brand new. Many of the reviews I read said that they rusted buy I have not had that problem. I've left them soaking in the sink and I wash them frequently in the dishwasher and they are still shiny and nice, no rust. This has to be one of the sharpest sets of knives I've ever purchased and they are very well made, strong, sharp knives. Given the price, I'm very impressed! ... show more

I got this knife set on sale for $50, and about the best or worst thing you could say is that it's worth $50. I wanted a set with a black knife block to replace old knives that were falling apart, and didn't want to spend much. I returned the first set because the Cuisinart logo was fastened on the block crooked, and there was glue all over a front edge of the block. The knives are sharp and look nice enough (despite the weird Prince of Persia style steak knives), so I expect this set will be fine for a few years until I'm willing to shell out for something better. ... show more

I love this cutlery set! They arrived pre-sharpened, and they STAY sharp. Easy to hold, and have a decent weight to them... but not too heavy and certainly not flimsy. I bought this set because 1. My girlfriend complained regularly about my existing knife with missing pieces. 2. I wanted a set with 8 steak knives because we have service for 8 in our dining set. Before today, I had used the steak knives for mundane tasks, like opening a package of hot dogs, etc. For many years, I disliked doing prep work, cutting up vegetables. No more! I used the chopping knife to dice an onion. What had been a tedious chore became a pleasure! It easily cut into the onion like butter, and had NO problem mincing the remanining larger pieces. Same holds true for slicing a tomato. Used the bread knife as well. While not as long as other bread knives I had seen, it did the job NO problem. This is an excellent purchase, and I would strongly consider giving this as a housewarming gift or wedding present, even if it wasn't asked for. Money well spent. ... show more
