my 8yo daughter has been taking figure skating lessons for a few years now and we had to invest in spinner devices for training. I bought a hard plastic spinner spins with almost no friction on HW floors but doesn't work at all on carpets. So then I bought this one from CRS to practice on carpets. There's only a few downsides to this device: 1) You don't spin as fast as on ice or with the curved plastic spinner on tile or HW floors. 2) Because it sits in one place, you have a static rotational axis, which is not how it is on ice - the plastic floor spinner mimics that a little better by not having a fixed axis. You take the good with the bad - this should last many years. We keep this at home and store the plastic spinner in her zuca bag for off ice practice at the rink!

This was recommended for our daughter from her ice skating coach, now that she is learning to spin on the ice. It is great to have a tool to be able to use off the ice. She is currently learning other techniques on the ice in her beta class she is able to practice at home.

Just after one month of use, my little one complained about she can not spin so smooth, always stuck. She used this item for figure skating off-ice practice. I'll not recommend buying this item.
