Short Summary: If you use multiple apps for video/audio conferencing on a computer and want clear sound and to be heard clearly by others for under $100, then this is a great choice for a bluetooth headset! Not too bad for music and movies either. Background: I have worked for large corporations for >25 years, of that more than 10 years has been based out of a home office. I participate on many video calls and technical presentations every week through various apps and web browsers (Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Zoom, Skype, GoToMeeting, etc. Chrome, Safari, etc. ). Up until recently I hadn't found a reasonably priced wireless/bluetooth headset that worked with video conferencing apps without cutting in and out, or having poor sound quality. I need something that sounds professional when on a call. I previously used high quality wired headsets with a mute button on the cord. I eventually got tired of tripping over the USB cord of my headset while turning in my office chair and reaching for things around the office. I needed to go wireless. Review: The Avantree Alto Clair aptX HD Bluetooth 5.0 Headset with Microphone... works very well for me. 1. Price - Reasonable for the performance. I targeted a headset between 50-100 USD. Those under $50 just didn't have the performance and functions I was looking for. You get what you pay for...usually (but almost always you don't get what you don't pay for). However with this headset, you can get great sound and quality and not have to pay more than $100 to get it. 2. Microphone - has a detachable boom microphone with mute button on the boom. Others on the call can hear me very clearly without the audio cutting in and out (I only use with the boom microphone attached. I haven't tried sound without the boom microphone). I use many different apps every week, I don't like hunting around looking for the mute in the software. So I leave the software unmuted and mute my microphone on the headset (I only need to remember 1 way of muting myself). It would be really nice if the headset mute changed the mute in the app, but none of the software or other headsets I reviewed seem to work that way. 3. Sound - On-ear with high quality stereo sound while on conference calls. I only looked for headsets with on-ear for both ears, to block out other noises around the house and to be able to hear calls clearly without distortion. - I also thought I'd test the audio range, so pulled up Royals by Lorde on YouTube and the headset can reproduce the highs and lows in the music very well. It easily performs well enough for voice calls, but I was pleasantly surprised that this headset would sound so good with music and movies also. 4. Bluetooth connection - easy to set up on MacBook Pro. I connected directly to the computer bluetooth and am not using a USB bluetooth adapter. There is no lag between the video and audio when watching movies. It was easily recognized by the computer and automatically changed my default audio and microphone to the headset in almost all of the apps after it was paired with the computer in bluetooth settings. I think there may have been one less frequently used app that I had to manually change, but the rest just worked after I paired it. 5. Comfortable - the on-ear pads remain comfortable to wear for extended amount of time (sometimes I'm on back to back calls that could combine for a few hours of wearing the headset in a single sitting). This headset is comfortable to wear. 6. Range - the headsets are rated for 10 meters (about 30 feet). I find that there is no distortion in the sound quality when walking away from my computer up to about 25 feet. However I don't think that is a reflection of the headset performance. My office arrangement is such that my computer is at one end of the house with the metal ducts of the furnace in the interior wall immediately next to the computer. So to get 25 feet from the computer, I need to go past the furnace to other areas of the house. I wouldn't expect bluetooth to project very well in the direction that has all that metal and electronics in the way of the signal. 7. Charging stand - I really like the charging stand. It gives me a place to put my headset that doesn't take up a lot of desk space. Also I don't need to plug in the cord to charge the headset, I just place the headset in the charging stand and it is good to go. 8. I buy plenty of electronics and rarely write a review. I'm not getting paid for the review and have not had any contact with the manufacturer. However when I get frustrated trying to find a product for a specific purpose for along time and then finally find a solution, I think it is worth my time to write a few words to try and save some of that effort for others that might be in a similar situation.

The headset is great in almost all aspects. A bit tight on the head even after making it bigger. The noise cancelling on the mic is not as I thought, I work from home and family was in another room and the mic was picking up my families voices at time, i know because MS Teams was on mute but not my headset and MS Teams kept telling me that my mic was muted when I wasn't even speaking. Sound is great though, had to lower it down a bit to be honest. Had to buy the D80 dongle separately since these computers have there bluetooth disable by IT!

I use these for my work where I am on the phone quite a bit. These are an outstanding value for less than $100.00. The sound quality is much better than my last headset, in fact for listening to music they are excellent. The battery life appears to be excellent for all day workloads, too. The stand looks great and is convenient for charging. One area of issue has been when I have it hooked into my iPhoneXR and my computer (which we use Dialpad for our phone system via work) it cuts in and out like it is trying to switch between my computer and the other device. It is very odd. I was hoping to finally have a headset that worked seamlessly between my iphone and computer but it does not appear that I have found that yet. Overall, great value and worth getting.

I don’t normally provide reviews unless a product warrants it. This Avantree Alto Clair headset has been awesome. The sound is clear and the mic works!!! I used it for my zoom calls without any issues. The battery life on this headset is fantastic since I am on calls for most of the day without having to recharge the headset. I did have a problem where one of the ear piece broke but Avantree support team promptly provide me a replacement free of charge and provided me the shipping labels to return the broken headset. I am so glad that Avantree stands by their product warranty and they have a stellar customer service. Will definitely be purchasing more of their products.

Sound quality and comfort were all fine. The headset would at times throw a red light and fail to function then start working again for no reason. After five months the headset stand would no longer charge. The sound and noise cancellation were great but this product just isn't reliable.

These headphones are thee worst. The comfort…yea ok they are much smaller than the picture. Noise canceling…it would have to be a Double No…heck nah…not at all. They stop pairing to my work computer after a few usages. I brought these for my Job(work from home), and they worked only a few times(literally twice). The buttons on the device never worked at all & the pairing the both times I used them in a nutshell, was a total inconvenient as well as very much time consuming with poor/no ending results. But the worst part is…I cannot return them ughhhhh…(they lucky I found Jesus) cause the owner(s)…his/her parents…the in-laws…the family friends…IDC who it was…but somebody(anybody) would of caught this tongue lashing…that’s how pissed I am….now I have to spend money on another set (definitely better). Aventree Products count your days because your products are trash…I even purchased the dongle & it kept reading ERROR. Never Again! Total Waste of Money!

Love this headset! I work from home & I was using a wired headset, I hated being tethered to my desk. I tried a few bluetooth headsets & the sound quality & comfort was poor. I found this one, it was a little more than I wanted to spend, but you get what you pay for. The sound quality is excellent, super easy pairing & I can wear it all day, super comfortable! Love the fact the mic is detachable. You can't go wrong with this headset.
