  • Pretty great but some cheap changes are needed
Size: 10x10 Color: Yellow
This is our 4th or so tent in about 15 years. We live on a salt water river and leave our dock and take the tent to a beach you can only get to by boat. We have to load it in a wagon to get it down the dock, lift it into the boat, lift it out at the beach and carry it to shore. There are only two handles on this and one is only works when you are rolling the bag if you have short arms. My arm span isn't big enough to comfortably carry the weight for most women. It desperately needs two handles, like the ones shown in the video, to carry it. I'm sure most other people would need them getting it in and out of cars where it would be difficult to span your arms that wide and get through the opening in the trunk or door opening. The bag also isn't wheeled and doesn't have a zippered portion to close it at the bottom. There is a pin that holds the bag to the tent leg so the case doesn't come off when you wheel it. There are wheels on the tent legs. This may cause us problems on our boat with the potwntial of feet scratching the boat or getting caught on things. I can definitely see that problem if you packed the car for a vacation. I probably will sew straps on the bag. The potential bigger problem is there are not enough velcro tie down points. As I stated, this is our 4th tent like this and they always have velcro that attaches the sides to the frame. This only connects at the corners and one place on each of the beams from the corner to the center of the tent. I will definitely be adding more. There is absolutely no way this will withstand the wind at the beach. We're going to take some silky cord to tie it through the eyelets the first time. (After the first time, we found it did really well. The fabric is a tight fit on the frame, otherwise the lack of velcro would be a problem. Over time, if the stitching at the seams stretches, I may still have to sew some on.) We have set it up in our yard and I was pleased it is every bit as easy to put up as the video shows. If it weren't, I would have taken off more than one star for the velcro and lack of carrying handles. It will be great to be able to have just one person take it down when we're in a rush to pack up because a thunder storm has rapidly rolled in. The stakes are plastic. We've had a problem with ours rusting in the past. We paint them to help that not happen and to make them easier to see in the sand, these are clear, so they may get lost in the sand easily. I hope they don't break easily. Also, the image shows each foot taking 2 stakes and there are 8 in the bag. That doesn't leave any for the small ropes, which are a necessity at the beach. If you are going to wheel this out in the backyard every now and then, my complaints won't be a problem for you. It's the same color as our boat, so I'm going to heat press our boat name and logo on the overhang. (I will test it on a small spot first.) Maybe use sign vinyl instead. We were very with it pleased with it at the beach. The color popped. As you can see in the photos, it matches our boat. The new drawback we learned is that while one person cam put it up and take it down, one person cannot easily put it back in the bag. You need a second person to squeeze the whole thing together to get the very tight bag to fit. I also noticed the legs sometimes bend at the joint where the button release for the leg extension is. I hope that isn't a problem long term. Also, we named our boat and have vinyl lettering with the name and a logo on the sides. I'm planning to heat press the same image and letters on the fabric. I did a small test and it takes vinyl really well. I had my heat press set at 320 and used Sisser standard HTV. ... show more

  • All-in-all, a great canopy; just need to know its limitations.
Size: 10x10 Color: Blue
I’ve had pop-up canopies before, so I am familiar with their limitations. I actually am floating an older one in my pool! I would love to be able to put this one on my patio, over my furniture, for the summer. But I know that it will never withstand the wind that comes sweeping through my yard. I could probably use it once in a while as long as I am taking it down at the end of the day. However, I know I can use it on my deck, with good anchoring, and leave it up for most of the summer, taking it down for only the severe storms and high winds. I have had it up now for about 4 weeks and it is wonderful. I love the improvements in design that make raising and lowering the legs so easy!! And the center pop-up mechanism is equally awesome! I’ve never had a canopy so easy to put up! To be honest, it was a breeze to initially put up because there were two of us. But I have been able to lower and then raise back up the legs by myself after some windy days. The red button covers and sliding mechanism really made a difference. I have it on a section of my deck that is partially shielded by the house wall and sunroom wall (photo 1). I have 20lb weights on all four legs, and one of the leading legs is bungeed to my railing posts, just to help with wind gusts. It does not cover my entire deck, but it is enough to shade my beloved 3-seat swing. But, with limitations - it is not waterproof, and in a drenching rain, it will get saturated and drip water onto the deck. There are also two “weep” holes on each of the four sides of the canopy (photo 2) that allow water to drain…which is better than having it collect and have the whole thing collapse under the weight. I just try to make sure I bring my seat cushions inside if there is a storm. But, in a passing light sprinkle, I can leave them out. (I live near the shore - we get little squalls threatening every day in high summer.) One thing I am a bit disappointed in, hence the star-drop, is that the legs are thinner, therefore not as sturdy, as canopy structures I’ve had in the past. I have it set at the lowest of the available height selections because it makes it a bit more sturdy in wind gusts. For me, it is not a problem, but I’ll have to raise it up if my taller relatives come visiting! :) I do recommend this canopy; it is a great price. I wish the company had the larger one available in blue - I would not hesitate to get one for more intermittent use over my patio. I may just have to spring for the red one. ... show more

  • Easiest Canopy to setup I have ever had
Size: 10x10 Color: Black
Finding a decent canopy at a decent price is hard I gave this one a try and glad I did: PROS: - The one push center frame lift was really great and I set the canopy up by myself in just a couple minutes. - Overall weight and storage size was compact and the frame seems sturdy. - I liked the top vent configuration and has a couple rain grommets to reduce any pooling. - Instead of the carrying bag having wheels, two wheels are built in to two leg frame/bases. Not really a pro or con, just different than any other canopy I have had. CON: The carry bag could use a bigger accessory stake/rope pocket, probably the only "con". It's only 4" x 7" which is fine to keep the plastic stakes supplied but if it was larger you could store the weight bags as well, and I typically use longer metal stakes which don't fit in the pouch as is. If it was a little wider and longer it would be a big plus - but this isn't a deal breaker to drop a star, and I just put my stakes and weight bags in the case first and put the canopy in afterwards. Additional note: Had an issue with the strap that connects to one of the roller legs and the supplier/manufacturer responded immediately to fix. The supplier includes a complete parts number list to reference for replacing any components. Excellent customer service value ... show more
