Been looking for ever for a light hard-shell contoured soprano-sax case with backpack straps. Seems solid construction and closes tight. Be aware it is very compact, so there is little space for extra mouthpieces and reeds. Liked it so much I bought the baritone version, and it is similarly nice and hard and lightweight, though it seems to properly close the latches on the bari case I have to carefully align the two halves of the case...but once the latches are secured (and they seem pretty secure) then I feel confident that they will hold the case closed tightly. Backpacking with both cases is very convenient and frees my hands! ... show more

Attractive shiny black plastic case that my curved soprano fits snugly into along with its neck and mouthpiece for which there is a small covered compartment near the horn’s bell. It’s light to carry and easy to store. And the price is right for this basic curved soprano carrying case.

    • Doesn't Fit My Horn. Light on Some Critical Padding.

I'll be returning this case because... 1) My curved soprano does not fit properly into the case. The upper part of the horn is wider than the cutouts in the padding, preventing it from sitting down into the case. You wouldn't want to force delicate keys and other protrusions on that part of the sax into the stiff padding. Actually, it's hard to imagine most curved sopranos fitting right. 2) The padding around some edges of the interior, especially around the bell of the horn, is meager or non-existent. Very stylish. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Not the best padding inside as it pertains to absorbing any shock, however, I’d definitely say that it’s a couple of steps up from a gig bag. Glad someone has thought forward enough to make a contoured case for the curved soprano sax player. Instrument fitment is nice… not too awkward. Shell seems well made. Strapping is fine. I wish the clasps on the ends of the straps were a little less bulky. Storage space is okay. Wish the pocket was a little better designed. I’m hoping the finish stays in tact. I haven’t had a problem with the latching as of yet. The TSA lock option is a plus. * I’d like to throw this in for anyone who flies… if you decide to wear this case as a carry-on, and you decide to place the case in an overhead bin during your flight, I would recommend that you find a decent canvas drawstring bag to place your case into to protect the finish from scratches and blemishes from possible sliding and incidental contact with other luggage.
