This is not a five-star stereo, but a five-star stereo would be expensive. I wanted cheap, and I wanted external speakers, so I got this little thing. And I’m happy with it! It plays my LPs that have been in storage for three decades, and the sound is very OK. At this writing, I’ve had it for exactly five days. Pros: 3-speed turntable (though I only need 33 1/3), nice lever for raising and lowering the needle, stops automatically. Looks nice, not too big. Quick assembly—From opening the box to playing the record took me 12 minutes (though part of that includes moving furniture around, so it shouldn’t really count). Cons: the controls are a little quirky. Most significantly, the small speakers are easy to overload, so you can’t crank the volume up very high. It can only accommodate one record at a time; I miss the spindle that let you stack a few records which would drop and play automatically. I also miss the automatic return arm; this machine will stop spinning when the record is over, but the needle sits on the record until you physically return it to base like an idiot. I also miss having a protective cover on top; but as I said earlier, I wanted cheap. To deal with the limitations of the speakers, I turn fans and air purifiers off in order to reduce white noise which will naturally muffle the sound. At some point, I may try attaching a more powerful set of speakers; but really, I just got this for a small home office, and the speakers are fine for my needs. BTW, the machine includes Bluetooth capability, so you can pair it with your iPhone and play downloaded music through the stereo speakers, which is kind of nifty. Recommended. ... show more
