Description

When designing the C8 turntable, Crosley started with a philosophy which works well in turntable design: less is more. Starting with the plinth, Crosley wanted to create a more substantial look, so they used a robustly thick piece of audio grade MDF and wrapped it in handsome walnut veneer with subtle branding. On/Off and speed selection (33 1/3 and 45 RPM) is controlled by one anodized knob that helps maintain the clean, understated silhouette. To help tame vibration that could affect sound quality, we isolated the motor away from the turntable and use an external belt to spin the full-size aluminum platter. The aluminum tonearm matches the platter and is outfitted with a counterweight, anti-skate control and removable head shell, letting you customize your setup if you don't want to use the pre-mounted moving magnet cartridge and stylus. Of course, there's a removable dust cover to keep the enemy at bay, a built-in switchable preamp, and RCA outputs to easily hook the Crosley C8 turntable up to your speakers or sound system. Whether you are stepping up from your first system or a very lucky and knowledgeable first- timer, the Crosley C8 is a great choice for pure analog sound. (Compatible with Crosley NP5 replacement needle) Designed with the C8 Turntable in mind, the Crosley S100 speakers feature a built-in 30 watt power amp and Bluetooth connectivity. Simply plug in the speakers, connect your wireless device via Bluetooth or your Crosley turntable via the included speaker wire or RCA cable, and crank it up!

  • Great For The Price
Style: Turntable
At $200 or less, this is a great turntable. I highly suspect that this turntable is actually made by Fluance, contracted by Crosley. If you compare it to Fluance's line of turntables, they are extremely similar. The main difference is, the Crosley C8 at $200 is better than the Fluance RT80 at $200. The crosley C8 has features you can find on not just the RT80, but RT81 and even RT82. You are basically getting an RT80 with RT81 and RT82 features for the same exact price. It's a great bargain. The sound is great, the counter balance and set up is fairly easy (there are videos on youtube on how to set up the Crosley C8), and the look of the thing rocks. I have this hooked up to my stereo Elac Debut 2.0 6.2s, and the sound is way better than my old vintage turntable. All in all I recommend it. Amazing beginner turntable for the price. Everything you need to start spinning records. Get it. ... show more

  • Excellent sound without breaking the bank.
Style: Turntable
The media could not be loaded. If you are just starting to listen to vinyls or are just a season audiophile this turntable will not disappoint. I started to listen to vinyls again and did a lot of research looking for a turntable that would sound great without breaking my bank and Im glad that I decided on the C8. Boy was I surprise as to the quality of the sound and the quality of the product. The C8 looks better and sound better that some of the more expensive turntables. It doesn't have the auto shutoff that some other turntables have but not a deal breaker for me (sound quality is). The RPM's were spot on right out of the box...thanks Crosley for the great workmanship. I waited a few months before deciding to post a review cause I wanted to make sure I actually used the product on different albums with different music genres. My C8 is combine with my Bose sound bar and the sound is excellent. I did have to ground the turntable because I was getting a humming sound once in a while.(feedback). ... show more

  • Really like the looks, the sounds, and the price
Style: Turntable
The media could not be loaded. The C8 arrived in a box much heavier than I was expecting, and I saw why when I opened it, as there is literally couple of inches of wood under the turntable platter. It is built very well, and took only 5 or 10 minutes to set-up. I’ll admit I bought it mostly for looks, but I love the way it sounds as well. I’ve been through a pretty big mix of my music in the last couple of weeks, and it’s easy to set-up and operate. I actually purchased this with the “matching” Crosley powered Bluetooth speakers, and will review those separately. They match the system perfectly, and if you need Bluetooth, they work great. I almost didn’t order this because it didn’t have Bluetooth, but ended up getting it in the speakers and I like it. We’ve ended up using the Bluetooth more than the turntable, as my daughter likes to stream her phone through it. If you do switch quite a bit between 45 and LP records, you’ll like the easy switch they mounted on the front. I have boxes of 45s I’m working on getting through, and play great on the turntable. Five stars all-around from me! ... show more

  • The Good the bad and the ugly
Style: Turntable
The media could not be loaded. The Good: This is honestly a decent sounding beginner record player with some nice features, and it was relatively easy to put together. I really like that it offers both line out and phono output. it’s very straightforward and flexible depending on what kind of setup you’re running. The Bad: While the sound quality itself is good, the actual mechanism (belt, motor, etc.) is louder than expected. You can hear a faint mechanical low hum as it revolves coming through the speakers when it’s running. It’s not unbearable, but it is noticeable. There are also some odd design choices, like the speed micro-adjustment screws and the floating ground, that are not explained anywhere in the manual, which can be confusing for beginners. The Ugly: Quality control appears to be a serious issue. After troubleshooting extensively, I experienced extremely loud static that changed whenever the tonearm or any metal part was touched. I initially assumed this was a grounding issue on my end and spent additional money on new RCA cables and a separate phono preamp, only to determine the problem appears to be inside the tonearm itself. There seems to be a shielding or grounding fault in the arm or head assembly that causes constant, brutal static. I contacted Crosley support to try to resolve this or request a replacement, but after multiple days I’ve received no response. At this point, between the hardware issue and lack of support, I can’t recommend this unit despite its good sound and feature set. ... show more
