This rc car is a lot of fun to drive around. It can drive both forward and backward, front wheels can turn left and right. Remote has function to increase motor speed and set wheel at an angle and car can drive in circles. It also comes with 2 batteries which helps when kids drain battery fairly quick. After heavy use motor tends to heat up and car can become a little hot. Now when it comes down to replacing battery or turning car on that’s a little cumbersome. In order to do this, car upper body has to be taken apart from base. 4 locking pins have to be taken out to do this and then put back in. However, you can get to power button without taking off the body but it’s not very comfortable. This can be done by trying to fit index finger between front left wheel and body and pressing the button. ... show more

    • Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger!

A couple of years ago my kid got a remote-controlled truck from a family member for a birthday. It was fun to play with for 10 minutes (which was apparently its battery life), but left us both underwhelmed. It was smaller than we had expected and lacked the get-up-and-go that one would find adequately satisfying. It ended up in a closet never to be charged again. On a recent whim fueled by nostalgia, my kid wanted to play with it to give it another chance. That's when we discovered the remote was lost to the annals of time. I decided to purchase another RC vehicle. This time getting to choose it myself. I came across this listing. The price was right and seemed fair. Not too egregious if our new purchase failed to hold our attention like the other, yet priced to indicate that perhaps the product wouldn't be straight-up landfill either. I was also enamored by how its appearance is reminiscent of the monster trucks I coveted in my childhood. Other features noted on the listing that drove (pun intended) my purchasing decision were the size ("Large," 1:12 scale) as I wanted something bigger than our previous model, it had 4WD (the other only had 2WD), and seemed more rugged with beefy looking shock absorbers and chunky tires. I ordered a blue one and eagerly awaited its arrival. Once delivered, it was indeed larger than our last one, nearly twice the size, and was good-to-go right out of the box. We tested it the same day. I told my kiddo to test it hard, and the truck stood up to the challenge. Things to note: this thing is fast and extremely responsive to the slightest manipulation of controls. We had to really crank the wheel for the last car to turn, but this one only requires small hand movements. The range is excellent. I live at the top of a steep hill on a culdesac, and we had no problem driving the truck 400 ft to the bottom of the hill and back. We even, irresponsibly, drove the truck without visibility down a side street and back. It made it despite obstructions. We slammed it into curbs until it rolled over and then kept slamming until it righted itself due to its oversized tires. Even with all the slamming, the vehicle showed no signs of damage. What I expected to be a 10 minute bonding session with my kid turned into an hour as a result of the incredible battery life. If you've been disappointed by RC cars in the past, I suggest giving this one a try. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised. For future drives, I think I might strap a camera (my phone in a rugged case) to it to record video. I bet that would be neat. Definitely a fun product! Recommended! ... show more

I got 3 of these (one for me and each of my sons). They’re an absolute hoot. I haven’t clocked them but I believe the 36kmh claim (they spin out when you go full throttle from 0 and turn without building up speed). If you’re going to get a couple of them then just ensure you turn on the car and controller at the same time, then drive it around for a second or two before turning on the others, otherwise signals get crossed and you’ll have to do it again or swap controllers. Also, some folks mentioned some issues. If you’re kinda hard on them (I took them to a bmx track and did a bunch of jumps) then sometimes the wires can come loose and need tightening/reconnecting. If you drive them non stop in 90+ degree heat then by the time you’re about done with one of the battery packs, it might overheat and need a break (mine appeared to). All-in-all, I think they’re worth every penny and a lot of fun. ... show more

1st round on this review. Left & right turn of wheels failed almost instantly. Opened up the access to the motor cogs and found cogs with missing teeth. Have reached out to the seller for replacement parts and waiting to hear back. Lesson learned - - test the unit upon arrival vs waiting almost 2.5 months for grandkids and ending up outside the normal free return window. So, stay tuned. 😏 Revised Update: Croboll rep. reached out to me and are sending a replacement car...to arrive by the 30th. Hopefully it will function without issue. Note - I wasn't requesting a replacement car, just information on how to replace damaged parts. They appear to be serious about achieving a satisfied customer; which is very commendable. ... show more

I have this a 3 because the first one we got would not charge, pretty sure the charge cord was bad but was send another one as a replacement and it works great. Got it for my 6 year birthday and he has had a blast with it. Between the two batteries it comes with he gets around an hour of play time. Down fall is it takes them about 3 hours each to charge. ... show more

Really nice truck. Fast and responsive. Controller could be better. The RIAARIO version is the same truck for same price but with a better controller (adjustable steering rate, which is good for beginners). Also, I recommend cutting a hole in the body so you can reach the on/off switch with a finger. It is a pain having to remove the body to turn the truck on/off. ... show more
