I usually wait to write a review to see how good or bad a product is and on this one I waited 4 months. I purchased this little truck off of Amazon for my son's 7th birthday in September and the got it October 1st. Needless to say this was the hit of the presents. Out of the box I was very impressed with everything that came with the truck. 2 batteries, spare parts, nice controler, great manual with full parts breakdown and one awesome little Truck. To me its was extremely fast straight out of the box and thankfully the controller has a slow mode on it so my son could learn to better control it. For the first 2 weeks the walked around the house with it driving from room to room and if was amazed at the battery life from the included batteries. In slow it was getting anywhere from 25 mins to 35 mins of drive/play time. We soon moved it to the normal setting (after he saw dad ripping it around) and if will tell you this thing is a BEAST! It is tough as nails, takes a high-speed crash and keeps on going. My son ran this thing into walls, chairs, rocks, a mailbox( that I was sure would be the end of the steering) at full speed. And then he stepped on it, (or stomped depending on your point of view) all it did was crack the front finder on the body. And then came the upgrades. My son taking after his father wanted to outrun dads expensive RC's. First came some oil filled shocks, (it sports the Haiboxing blue shocks found here on Amazon) and new tires. The original tires where still in good shape but we where going to need a bit more grip. Round two was a full brushless upgrade with a surpass hobby ESC and 2440 motor. And to finish it off a Dumbro At with gyro. Of note is I used the stock pinion gear off of the brushed motor, and all of the driveline is still bone stock except the brushless motor. This thing is absolutely insane now. It will do standing backflips, wheelies on demand and fast, super fast. I keep the speed trim set it 50% for playing and bashing and still get 18 mins of run time on the stock batteries, throw a little large 2s in and we still get our 30min run times. This little HBX is truely amazing, cheap starter rc, easy to learn on and once you pass that learning curve; its easy to upgrade and the fun keeps on coming. I have been thinking about getting an RC car for years. Figured I would eventually have to go to a hobby shop and drop a few hundred dollars to get something decent. For some reason I never even thought about checking Amazon, but decided to have a look and I am glad I did. Found the green 18859 truck for $66 and decided at that price it was worth giving it a shot. First Impressions: When I first opened the box the first thing I noticed was that the truck was very nice looking, but a little smaller than inspected. That is totally on me, the description clearly indicated that the car is 1/18 scale, but either way it wasn't a huge deal. The controller was nothing special, but again the car was 66 bux, so I wasn't expecting anything to be the best of the best. Driving the truck: Very impressed with the speed of this truck. It is not the fasted RC around but definitely fast enough to have fun with. Good speed and handles nicely. I enjoyed driving this car so much I bought another one(orange) later that night. Negatives: The shocks look nice and can be adjusted, but they are mostly for show. Mine were sticking within a few days. If you plan on using the car in dirt or jumping off ramps, I would recommend the shocks upgrade for ~$20. Definitely worth the price. I have completed the upgrade on both of trucks that I bought. The tires have some flaws that need to be corrected(in my opinion). The rims have holes in them, and holes are big enough for dirt to get into. After using this car on the dirt a few times, dirt got into the holes and threw the tires out of balance. Please do your own research, but after removing the dirt from each tire, I was able to solve the problem by putting holes in each tire and covering the holes in each rim. Overall I gave this truck 5 stars, because you can't beat it for the price. Very good entry level "hobby" RC, with plenty of options for upgrade. I am still having fun with with car and I am 47yo. I have even built(nothing fancy) a track in my back yard for these trucks and having a blast on it. I can really go on and on about how I love this car, but this review is long enough. **I also wanted to add that I am so impressed with the Haiboxing brand and the 18859 trucks, that I bought the 16890SA for Christmas and I am sure I will not be disappointed.** ... show more

    • Its small, but fast, great for younger kids!
For the money, this is a great little truck. Its fast and easy to control, and has 4 wheel drive! When you lower the power, its driveable for "kids" of any age. My 7 year old grandson and I race each other (I bought 2 of them), play demolition derby, have jump ramp competitions, its great at all that. The battery lasts a full 20 minutes of HARD running, even at full throttle most of the time. We smash them, bash them, run them through dirt, grass and on the street. The body is durable, and still looks good after multiple upside down slides, crashes, etc on the pavement. The only negatives and to be expected at this price range, would be the lack of steering rate adjustability, same with the shocks. Oh, and for some reason, the cotter pins that hold the body on seem to come off during high speed, demolition derby style, impacts, who knew? Great car, buy it and enjoy! ... show more
