This is the second time I've bought one of these combs. I originally discovered it at Sally Beauty a few years ago, and they no longer carry them. The comb is so sturdy and durable! They last for years. It rarely snags hair, and works great at detangling both straight and wavy hair. The only reason I bought a second one is because my daughter who has super-fine hair, and is tender-headed decided to take mine.

As a Black woman with 4C hair, finding the perfect comb is like searching for a unicorn—rare, magical, and almost impossible to find. I embarked on this quest back in 2019, six years ago, after growing out my natural hair post-big chop. With my hair gaining significant length and volume, I needed a comb that could handle the challenge—one that was smooth, sturdy, and wouldn’t contribute to unnecessary breakage. Let me tell you, I tried everything. One comb lost a tooth, another lost several. One snapped in half as if it had simply given up on life. Each disappointment was a personal attack on my hair journey. I had almost resigned myself to a life of broken combs and broken dreams—until I found this comb. From the very first use, it was love at first detangle. I still remember the moment vividly—just like today, as I’m using it while writing this review. For the past six years, this has been the one. I bought this shortly after trying a wide-tooth sandalwood comb and being very disappointed with it (it pulled my hair like crazy). I am pleased to report that this Cricket "Ultra Smooth" comb is exactly that--it's smooth as can be. It practically glides through my hair. My hair is very thick and wavy. This comb not only glides so much more smoothly through my hair than the sandalwood comb, it leaves my hair feeling softer and less frizzy. I'm skeptical about the infusion claims but can definitely say that this comb is far superior to the wooden one. I suspect it will also last much longer, given that it's all one piece (the wood comb is not) and is therefore sure to be more sturdy. This one's a keeper. The other one--well, let's just say that my garbage can is currently smelling faintly of sandalwood.
