  • Good cell camera setup
I have 6 of these cameras each setup with the cell connection through SimHero and the optional solar panel battery. I have the cameras setup at remote recreation land we own mostly for security and wildlife pictures. The motion action and the pictures works as expected. I dont use the mobile app, I have it setup to email me the pictures and video. The email feature works good. The camera's eat batteries so I would highly recommend getting the optional solar panel setup. Even without direct sun the solar panel extends the life of the batteries. I think I usually change out the AA batteries every ~4 weeks or so. The solar panel has a battery in it so it's not trying to charge the batteries in the camera. I have attached several pictures as examples. The only real negative is the video. For 99% of the video it records , the start of the video is delayed (several seconds) and so you don't capture the moment. For example for the pictures attached all the videos are blank meaning it started recording several seconds later after the animal has already moved on. I did email the seller and they were very helpful so the customer service was good. I have yet to get good video of any of the movement, we get the pictures but the animal is never on the video due to the delay in video recording. If you really want video and that's your goal, this probably is not the best solution. I'm not exaggerating , after 6 months of these cameras in the woods we have hundreds of wildlife photos and ZERO video of that wildlife. According to the seller the only way to ensure the video records when the movement first occurs is the turn off the photos feature. By default it first does the photo's, then it starts the video. This delay is the reason why we don't get video of the movement. My other comment is that these are not cheap when you combine the camera + solar panel + cell connection + batteries. However they do 100% work and for my scenario (monitor some remote property) it's the best solution I have seen. I would buy again based on the customer service of the seller, and the quality of the product. ... show more

  • If you can set up a wi-fi router, you can set up this camera. Quite easy.
Modifying my review here. I liked the camera so much that I ordered another one. It arrived and I took it out to the country to install it. When I open the box the Sim card was missing. It seemed pretty clear that someone had taken it. I called customer support and their solution is for me to package the entire thing up and return the entire box with the camera and everything instead of just mailing me a Sim card . Could this be any stupider as a solution? I don’t think so. So at this point I think that the nice camera was a lucky break and the customer support is ridiculous. It’s also located somewhere else on the planet where the keyboard on the call is noisier than the support person’s voice. Nice camera for the money. I got the solar charger option and ran the wire about 15' up in a tree. Have not had to charge batteries for 5 months. Much more convenient than my other cameras, but you need to be able to point charger at the sun, which is not always easy in the woods. Very easy to set up for me. Yes, you need some ability to deal with digital electronics. If you can set up and manage a wi-fi router or a digital media player then you will have no trouble with this camera. It is not fast enough to capture a license plate, For that you will need to spend more money on an actual security camera. *Discovered that the SIM card had been inserted in the camera before shipping. A little counterintuitive since the camera is also in a plastic bag. *cheap 12-volt cable failed in less than a year. Had not touched it since I installed it. Stopped sending photos re solar charger wasn't charging built in battery because of failed dongle ... show more

  • Room for improvement, but I will buy again
This camera is receiving terrible reviews on some outlets. Most critiques are related to the difficulty of setting up the camera. I encountered a few issues myself, including the Android App not allowing my username/password to be used for linking the App with my online account (containing my sim card number). This is important because it allows you to control the camera remotely etc. You will probably encounter a similar issue and become frustrated. Don't! The App works much better on iPads and iPhones. If your Android App fails, try your iPad or iPhone. Everything else seems to work well. I will revise my post with images after more experimenting. *Update* I've taken my first pictures and have it set pretty well. The solar panel is charging normally and the camera is functioning almost flawlessly - including pictures flowing into my Android App. The pictures and video are excellent quality overall during the day, but the nocturnal images are slightly above average. The motion detector is good, but it is a little bit slow - don't forget to turn on or engage the PIR after you set it up. Right now, everything is working as expected and I will purchase another camera with the solar panel. P.S. I also had a question for tech support and received an immediate response. The owners care about their customers. *****update******* I encountered an issue with the camera not taking pictures or allowing remote control via the app. It would run normally for ~ 20 hours before it quit taking pictures and would not allow me remote control. I finally figured out that it was related to the default SMTP address. The camera works flawlessly now that I added my own SMTP address and am routing everything through servers. ... show more
