You cannot fist them at all, so even my 2.5 year old is naturally using a proper pencil grip while coloring with these rocks, and that’s not even a milestone/ skill for his age! Love the concept of the included “people pebbles,” too, and the variations of natural tones like greens and blues. Even with only 32 colors, you’ll find everything you need to represent people (with all types of skin and hair) and animals and things outside.... all the things kiddos care most about. The media could not be loaded. I bought these because I heard rock crayons help toddlers learn to hold pens/pencils correctly and build the muscles they need for writing when they get older. I noticed when my 2.5 year old took a rock out that he is holding them the correct way that will help him eventually learn to write. Also, the colors go on the paper easily and look great. Since they are small, I did count to make sure there were 32, and they are all there. I’m excited to try coloring and tracing with these rock crayons!

This is perfect for kids to start Learning the correct way to hold a pencil. It forces them to hold with their fingers and not their hands. Crayons are great quality and durable. Great gift at a great value

Great for promoting a functional grasp with coloring. They can break somewhat easily, but then they are also soft enough to color nicely

I got these for my 3 year old to help him learn how to hold a pen/pencil. These do exactly that. He picked it up and immediately started coloring using the same grip you would use to hold a pen. So for that reason alone I would give these 5 stars. But I also am super impressed with the quality of these crayons. They are very bright on paper and the quality is just excellent. Of course these are small, hard, round objects so they are a choking hazard for small kids. I would say for most 3 year olds it shouldn’t be a problem. But mine does still occasionally like to put random objects in his mouth so I like to keep an eye on him while using them just to be safe. But I am so glad that I got these and am planning on buying the larger box so that we always have some on hand.
