  • Great item
Handy. Saves changing tires

  • They don’t make them like they used to.
30 years ago Sears ran a sale on a tire inflator. Bought it and it was fantastic. About a month ago I was doing yard work and accidentally ran it over. Crushed it. I knew that replacing it with the same model would be next to impossible but I looked around. Found this one on amazon that looked similar to what I had in the photos so I figured I would take a chance and order it. I was a little disappointed. The old one was hefty. Substantial and very powerful. The new one is smaller, lighter, feels cheaply made. Takes longer to fill tires but at the end of the day it works. It’s ok, not like when Craftsman actually made quality stuff. ... show more

  • A decent but not exceptional light duty compressor/inflation pump.
"Craftsman" was a revered name for tools in the US when I was younger. To be absolutely honest, I'm not all that enthusiastic about this tire inflator/portable air compressor. While the feature list is better than average, the 'execution' swings quite a bit towards mild duty, 'Consumer' level as far as this tool goes. Does it *work*? Well, for the most part, yes. It 'can' be run on 120, but you'll likely need a sizeable extension cord to reach anything. To its credit, the 12volt cord is substantially longer and should suffice for most passenger vehicles, bicycles, and inflatable sports balls and the like. For something like inflatable kayaks, water/snow 'sleds', etc., well it can do it, but it's going to take a while. While OK for adding air to a low tire, the pump works pretty hard, and if you're starting from flat, you're likely to need to stop and rest the pump for a bit several times to let it cool down: sustained use is NOT it's forte. The pump's attractive, comes with the std hose tips one would expect and in the end, can get the job done, but it's NOT a commercial, but rather a consumer quality pump. For an emergency type car pump, it's mostly ok. but I've got a number of multi use pumps that cost near what this one does, that are considerably more competent and better built. To me, at least, it seems that they are 'milking' the "Craftsman" name. I expected better.... ... show more

  • Impressive features, good performance
The media could not be loaded. What it does well (Strengths) Functionality & Versatility - The inflator supports multiple power sources (12 V DC, 120 V AC) giving you flexibility whether you’re on the road or in the garage. - It includes a digital pressure gauge + auto shut-off, which means you can preset your target PSI and the unit shuts off when reached. That avoids over-inflation and makes it great for regular car tires, bikes, inflatables, etc. - The built-in LED light is handy for roadside use or nighttime inflations. This is a nice detail for emergencies. - The 12V DC cord has ample length allowing it to easily reach from the front to the back for most vehicles. - The tire inflating tube is long enough to allow the unit to sit on the ground while attached to a car tire. Ease of Use & Convenience - It’s compact, portable, and easy to store. I like the included storage bag for this purpose. - For ordinary tasks like topping off tires or inflating bike tires / sports gear / small inflatables the operation is straightforward and fairly quick. Example: it took 2-1/2 minutes to raise the pressure from 30 to 35 psi on a truck tire size of 275/65R-18. - The auto shut-off and digital readout make it “set and forget,” which reduces the hassle compared with manual pumps. Value & Quality (for its use case) - As a consumer-grade, portable inflator, it provides a very good balance of performance and convenience with enough pressure, digital accuracy, and versatility at a reasonable price point compared to similar compressors. - Maintenance is minimal (oil-free pump). Where it falls short (Limitations & Trade-offs) Inflation Speed & Air Flow / Power - As with most portable inflators, it’s not as powerful as a full-size garage compressor. Inflation (especially of larger tires or multiple tires) can be slower. It may require more “sessions” with breaks. Noise & Heat / Duty Limits - The noise level is “moderate” — not deafening, but louder than a low-noise compressor. That can be noticeable if you’re in a quiet garage or doing the job early in the morning or late at night. - With extended use (many tires in a row, or long inflation sessions), the unit may get hot and may require you to let it rest. The overheating protection helps. Other Limits - If you expect to use it as your main compressor for bigger jobs — not just “inflate tires once in a while” — you may find it lacking compared with a standard 6-gal (or larger) compressor. - The 120V AC cord is very short. You will need an extension cord to plug this into the wall. - The tubing provided to use with inflatables is short. Ideal for: - Regular car tires (passenger vehicles), bikes, sports gear, small inflatables. - Keeping in the trunk for emergencies or seasonal tire adjustments. - Homes / garages where you don't want to start up a large compressor just to fill tires. My Overall Verdict - For its class this Craftsman model is very solid value. It offers a nice mix of convenience, accuracy, and reasonable speed. - This would make a great gift for anyone who needs a portable tire inflator or to inflate pool toys ... show more

  • Craftsman Inflator
I like to keep a portable inflator in every vehicle so I have a few of these of different makes and models to compare to. A few things to keep in mind when choosing an inflator- size, cordless or corded, other features like some also have a jump pack (all in one). This model is an inflator only, with a light. It’s corded with 12V adapter for cigarette style plug and corded for wall outlet. The 110V wall outlet cord is very short so even if your vehicle has a 110 outlet the inflator won’t reach your tires without an extension cord. The 12V cord is plenty long to air up a tire from your vehicle 12V power source. This one is medium sized, so it takes up a little more room but is slightly more powerful, ie faster, than the small sized models. It’s pretty well laid out to keep everything tidy in the included bag. It’s a little slow to add say 10psi, but no slower or faster than most others. You can set the psi to stopping point, which is common on most inflators. I’m not sure I’ll ever use the blower, but it does have this capability and included hose. Overall it’s about average in quality of materials, noise, and features. Not bad, not great, just OK. It does have the Craftsman branding going for it so should have some peace of mind that this will last for a while. Better to have one of these and not need it so if you’re in the market this one will do a serviceable job. ... show more
