I have a hand crank winder and thought this would be a better alternative to create stackable yarn. It is built really well, especially having the tensioners so you have uniform winds, you just have to make sure you don't have any knots in the yarn as this will stop once it hits the tensioners. It has a nice large bottom plate and a long bobbin, so you don't have to worry about yarn sliding off. The clamp is pretty nice, I had no problem whatsoever attaching it to the table I use, which has a small lip and then a bar. It held the bar firmly. The on/off button is easy to use, allowing you to go slow or fast. It comes with a plug instead of a usb, which I liked. You also must make sure that the yarn you are rewinding is more on the loose side, because the machine will stop immediately. Once it stops you have to turn it off and then back on. I had this problem a few times, but I'm learning what it does and doesn't do. When I figured out the problems, it ran like a dream, and I was able to wind my yarn fairly quickly. The media could not be loaded. This is a fantastic little device! My partner is the knitter in the family, and she often postpones projects because it is such a PITA for her to make a yarnball by hand. This takes 99% of the drudgery away, turning an unpleasant and long chore into a short, fun, and pleasant occupation. This works well with skeins or hanks. For hanks, it is easiest if you also use a swifter (see the video for an example). Swifters are handy on their own, and you can find them inexpensively on Amazon. Since this marvel arrived, she has done a good half-dozen of these and has not had a single bit of trouble. Recommendations are to take it slow, especially at the beginning of the wind, and load the machine carefully. But she had success with it right out of the box! ... show more
