Not happy with the overall quality of this item! We got all the pieces laid out & started reviewing the instructions and noticed most of the pieces did not have the pre-drilled holes & missing the wooden peg holes so we stopped at that point & started the return process!

    • Will be great when we can finally take it outside
This dog house was fairly simple to put together with the kids helping. I am hoping after the spring thaw, we can get this set up in the backyard. It will be perfect for storing their toys on the one side as well as having clean water dishes for them when they are outside. Our chocolate lab is still growing so it will be interesting to see how well she fits this summer. My blue and red heelers absolutely love the dog house. The inside is just big enough for the two heelers to lay down, but not Big enough to fit all three. We are planning on making a small modification that will allow all three dogs plenty of room inside. The unit has some decent weight to it and I would highly recommend having two or more people carry it if it needs to be moved. The material feels like a lighter weight wood and it feels like everything has been painted. Time will tell how well the unit will stand up to the elements outside as well as being hosed off occasionally. I don't believe this unit is worth the value of the money paid for it. Now if the wood were a stronger material such as oak then I would say it was worth the value of money. The appearance looks well in our yard. However after looking at it and talking with one of my neighbors I agree that it looks more like a small chicken coop than it looks like a dog house. The neighbors sought the storage area on the side was actually where the nesting area was and the flip lid would give you better access to get the eggs. Honestly with the little modification of putting holes in for the nesting area and add poles to roost on, it wouldn't be difficult to change this from a dog house to a chicken coop. ... show more

Got this for medium size dogs. Seeing a golden retriever being pictured with the dug house falsely led me to believe that this would be great for my much smaller blue heelers That's not the case. These is no way a golden retriever sized dog could fit through the door! That being said a smaller dog would like this, say up to 30 lbs. Upon moving the box it sounded like a bunch of gravel inside. Once I opened and started reading pieces out it got really messy. The gravel from the roof pieces got everywhere! The instructions were detailed. For the most part things went together fine, some areas weren't properly predrilled and the wood split when screwing into. The box outside the house was one of the features I liked the most to store dog food. Unfortunately there are gapss all the way around inside so the food would just fall through and pests could get in.
