Having living in the downtown area in Boston, I had been having a hard time studying and working from home during the summer because my apartment is very old and doesn’t have any air conditioning system. As a tenant, I don’t have options to make adjustments in the house, like window or wall-mounted air conditioners, and the fans weren’t helpful et al. While browsing on Amazon, I came across this portable air conditioner and thought why not give it a try since I don’t need to make any adjustments in the house which could cause a problem with my landlord. It arrived in a properly packed box with everything in it ( window kit, hose, etc) and took me 15-20 minutes to set it up without using any tools( not even a screw-driver) . It works pretty good.     • Unit not working reliably after 1 month of use

We ordered the portable AC unit in early May and didn't turn it on until the last week of May. By June 25th, the unit would randomly stop cooling but the compressor continued to run. I would turn it off for at least 1.5 hours and the unit would work temporarily but the issue continued to return and is getting perpetually worse with time. Costway customer service asked for a video, which I provided. They then offered me $60 "for my inconvenience". I paid $499.99 for a unit that no longer works after less than two months of use. I got the 14,000 btu unit to cool my entire apartment which is about 750 square feet. It works like a champ. My only complaint is that the window kit does not have any kind of screen or vent flaps so rain/birds can get into the vent. I bent the hose so that the rain can’t get all the way in to the unit but it does not help with birds. ... show more

Like that is kid friendly if they put there fingers in it does not close down on there little fingers. Bad thing is it’s hard to keep them away from the moving up and down with the air flow. If I keep it up they try and force it close so need to keep it on up down motion. But do enjoy the cool air

This AC unit works well but the vent hose attachment to the unit and window is very poorly made. It will not stay attached without taping it. The part that pops into the window keeps popping out as well. It is very, very frustrating.

In the stuffy room, not without this large power machine, the air volume is very sufficient, can move at will, cooling no problem. The overall appearance looks very high-end, the noise decibel is suitable for me to sleep, I can not do without it because I am afraid of heat.

    • AC failed to work after 6 months and costly repairs even under warranty and 3 year insurance

confusing apps. I have so many smart devices, I don't remember which app regulates a certain device. alexa doesn't have display dashboard of the device to see it's state, etc. so it's tedious to use this AC with a phone for me. AC started malfunctioning in less than 4 months. And requires service fee costs to get it serviced even though I purchased a 3 year protection with Asurance, which is most likely a fake warranty that may rip customers off later with service fees, etc. My AC gives FT code every 2-3 hours and stops operation. Very little water comes out when I drain it out, about 400ml. The continuous drain doesn't work, instead it fill up the tank and then stops working. I never had to drain it before. It started doing this error all of a sudden after few months. So it's a design flaw or defect that caused an obstruction that prevents proper drainage distribution and failing the unit. ... show more
