You’ll most likely be getting the newer 2024 model, not the older 2018 version, so it’s worth checking other RM850x listings, you’ll find it priced more competitively there. This particular listing should be updated to avoid confusion, since the older model is no longer being produced or sold. That said, the RM850x is an excellent PSU: reliable, efficient, & quiet. Bought this to replace an old 650x corsair PS I had in my last build for the current rig. That power supply lasted nearly 11 years people! Sure it was older and not modular as that wasn't a thing - but 11 years? My system is centered around corsair from the cpu cooler, ram, fans, pc case, mouse pad and psu. Everything runs flawlessly, simple to install with a focus on aesthetics and the cable management is insane - especially with that 5000d case. 850x is more than I require, but this is also future proofing as I intend to be using this psu for a decade or so. Its fully modular, meaning you can only attach the wires you need, which eases the strain of the cable management chaos. I have 4 cables attached to power the cpu, gpu, sata sdd backups and of course all the rgb modules on the back panel). Great, quiet and modular psu backed by Corsairs legendary quality. ... show more

GENERAL INFORMATION As with all Corsair products, this power supply turned out to be a wonderful buy from a name brand - especially if you can snag it when it's on sale for just $90. PROS - Very limited noise level - almost completely silent - Doesn't crash/fail like cheap alternatives - Looks great in all-black PC builds, if visible - Built in cables are well designed - the SATA cables, for example, have multiple connectors on one cable to allow for insanely easy chaining. - Labeled cables. Sometimes, non-labeled cables can be hard to find where to place in your PC. These ones are clearly labeled: PCIE, CPU, SATA, etc. CONS - The price. It's a really nice price when on sale, but when not on sale, you can find some cheaper alternatives from non name brand companies. However, as this is a power supply, you should NOT cheap out on it. CONCLUSION I think this power supply nailed the job. It's a great supply for my computer with a 3070ti and 5800x. Really proud of this one. ... show more

A good PSU is one that does its job and goes unnoticed and that's exactly what this PSU does. I upgraded from a 500 watt evga bronze PSU after my 8700k upgrade and while the 500w evga was probably enough, I wanted something modular for cleaner cable management and the all black cables of this PSU were also a huge plus as they're much nicer looking than the mustard and ketchup colored ones of my old one. My old PSU was somewhere around $30 when I got it a few years ago and with this one being at around $100 dollars you can see the difference in quality right out of the box, it just has a high end look and feel to it with the packaging and everything. I can't attest to the actual quality of the internals but the general consensus around the internet is that you do get what you paid for in terms of the components that this PSU is made of. I read somewhere that the older RM series used high quality capacitors for the main caps but lower quality secondary caps, while the newer RMx line uses the same high quality capacitors all throughout. I guess this PSU also comes with a 10 year warranty, which is reassuring as you usually don't see warranties span that much time and most people probably usually don't keep the same computer hardware that long anyway, though I definitely think that this PSU will be able to last through several builds. As for the 0db fan, I don't think my old PSU had that feature, but honestly I could never hear the PSU fan over the case fans at low load, and at high load my GPU fan would drown out any other noise. ... show more

I purchased this PSU as an upgrade from the factory unit in my Dell Optiplex 7010 MT. If you are looking to put one of these in this same type of PC, a word of warning: this PSU barely fits. I thought I would actually have to return it, but I was able to squeeze it in while sliding the side panel latch forward. Luckily, the latch still moves back enough to allow the side panel to stay closed, but the latch does rest against the PSU. Aside from that, I really like this PSU. The cables are a bit stiff, as some have stated, but I found that they hold bends really well because of that. This is definitely suited for a larger case, given the size of the unit and the actual cables. It was a tight fit to route the cables around some of the hard drives in my mid tower. At normal load, the fan doesn't run at all. Until I put a GPU into the PC, I don't think I will ever see the fan spin up. One of the reasons I opted for this unit is because of how many SATA cables it has. If you are building a media server, it's a great option since you can attach plenty of drives to it. Good power supply that works well with high end components (Ryzen 5950X with a RTX 3080). Under load, my power pull hit 750 watts sustained and the PSU had no problems handling it. The PSU doesn't make much noise and was easy to install. My only complaint with this power supply was with the provided power cable. Rather than providing a 3 pin grounded power cable, a 2 pin power cable with a grounding wire was provided (picture provided). Not really a problem since I have lots of 3 pin power cables, but why include such a specialized cable that won't work with most household outlets. If someone were to make the mistake of using this cable on a standard household plug and didn't connect the ground wire, it would present a fire hazard. There are a lot of reviews stating that the power supply stopped working or burned out components on their motherboard. I suspect that this may be the reason. ... show more
