  • Great PS If You Have The Money.
Expensive as H... BUT reliable. I bought this almost 7 years ago. It runs, on average, 12 hours a day. With over 28,000 hours run time it has been trouble free. It is powering an RTX 2070 with an AMD 2700X processor. Occasional gaming so not much in the way of a heavy load. Quiet as can be. In fact my entire build is quiet. Would I buy it again? If they sold it to me for free like the last time, sure. What motivated me to write this review was when I rediscovered I bought for free while thinking about a new computer. My 9 year old Grandson is eyeing my PC more and more. He might get it in the next year but probably with a cheaper replacement PS. Installation and fit was simple. Compatibility absolute. ... show more

  • All the power I will ever need
As part of my new build, I decided to go with this Corsair power supply. Three things of importance to me when I was looking for a new power supply, is that it is capable of high wattage, modular (The last power supply in my previous build was not and lacked flexibility in cabling), and certified. This Corsair has got that covered, it is platinum certified, has detachable cables and a lot of them, and so far has steadily provided the power I need for my new machine. The fan is very quiet and the power supply looks good too. This is one quality power supply and has a great 7 year warranty. I did have a small issue with the ATX cables not wanting to snap in place and came lose a bit but I pushed it in further and it has held just fine since. This also comes with the Corsair link but unfortunately I could use it as it takes a USB connection on the board which I didn’t have available due to the case taking the ports already. I would have liked an option to connect the link some other way, but since I will use the ASUS software instead, it was a minor issue for me. There are eight (8) PCIe connectors and 12 SATA flat cable connectors that are as well made as the power supply. 5 stars My build (designed for future upgrade-ability and expandability) is as follow (using Windows 7 Pro, each hardware part, I will review separately) Creative Lab Sound Blaster Z Asus X99 Deluxe Motherboard Cooler master Nepton 240M Water cooler Cooler Master Cosmo II case EVGA 04G-P4-2978-KR GTX 970 video card Kingston Hyper X Predator memory DDR4 2400 (16 GB) Samsung EVO 850 SSD Hard drive (main boot drive) Seagate Hybrid hard drive (secondary drive) Intel 5820K CPU Corsair HX850I Platinum certified Power supply ... show more

  • This is a killer PSU. Worth every penny
I absolutely love this power supply. It has plenty of power to get the job done, materials are very high quality, being fully modular makes cable management a breeze, and the dynamic fan control is FANTASTIC. I'm running this 850 watt PSU on a system that really only needs 500 or so, but because of the dynamic fan system, the fans on the thing never run. It's silent. Integrated controls for the fans also come in handy for tweaking settings to achieve optimal temps. Absolutely recommend over any cheaper alternatives, a PSU is not somewhere to skimp on your rig! ... show more

  • Works well, quietly, easy to install
I got this for my Threadripper gen2 build and wanted to make sure I had a quality PSU for all my components plus an extra amount of power in case I added on anything. First off the fact that it's fully modular is a must have for anyone building today as it allows you to build to your needs, plus it allows for better cable management. I've not had any issues power wise and it runs extremely quite and efficiently constantly. Plug this puppy into a good quality battery backup/surge protector and you'll have no issues as I have seen. ... show more

  • Great product, no wire mess modular design. A+
Had to replace my TX750 non modular since I did not have enough PCI-E connectors to run an SLI set up with 2 GTX 780 OC II Asus cards. I really like the product and am impressed by the aesthetic design. Pros: - It's smaller than it's under powered brother TX750 Silver. - Fully modular wiring (YEA!) - Light and super quite operation. - Running 80% ~ 85% efficiency so far with no troubles in sight. Cons: - Almost no quick start guide documentation. (Very simple manual) - If this is your first PSU, make sure you are taking your time to understand what you're plugging in and where! (consult your MOBO and online resources) Comparative to other reviewers I have not had any issues with the quality of the cables where plugging them in and out was difficult. They were very easy to get into their designated locations, and remove as well. (Had to rewire my case a few times to make it look how I wanted) Great buy, I'll definitely look for a 1000+ HX series in the future when I expand my build. ... show more

  • Quiet and powerful when needed
I originally bought this because of the good reviews and my previous experience with Corsair PC components. I can say, I'm not disappointed. The fully modular design allows just the cables I need to be plugged in, reducing potential disruptions in airflow caused by unnecessary cable clutter. The USB port on the PSU allows the device to plug into an internal USB 2.0 header and communicate with the CorsairLINK software, which allows me to monitor things like power consumption, power output, fan speed, PSU temperature, and calculated efficiency. Right now I'm sitting at 79.42% efficiency with jumps every so often up to 80ish%, with the fan spinning at 0 RPMs... Wait, what? Yes friends, this power supply is so smart that even its fan knows when to stop spinning... er, start spinning. The fan on this critter doesn't spin up until the PSU reaches a certain load level. That means you have one less fan spinning in your computer to make noise. Which is a good thing, because my computer sits on top of my desk, just to the right of my main monitor. The less I hear from it, the better. Don't worry about it not working though, there is a test button on the unit that will spin up the fan so you know it is still functional. My plans are to only use this with a single video card... Currently a GTX 970, and this PSU is providing plenty of power to keep everything up and running. Power wise, I've got the aforementioned video card, a i7 6700k (not over clocked at the moment,) 32GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR 4 RAM, a Corsair H100i GTX dual 120mm radiator water cooler, a Samsung 950 pro 256GB M.2 SSD, 2 Kingston 240GB SSDs in a RAID-0, a 4TB hybrid Seagate HDD, keyboard and mouse of course, and a USB wireless headset beaming music to me while I write this all plugged into an ASUS Sabertooth Z170 Mark 1 motherboard, and the CorsairLINK software is telling me I'm using only about 65 watts from the wall, with the occasional jumps up to just under 100 watts. This PSU is doing exactly what it's supposed to do and not whining about it (fan whine that is). ... show more

  • Great PSU, Ugly cables...
Easy installation. Looks good in my 760T case. Docked a star for two reasons: (1). The Corsair link software has many bugs and is unusable. There are too many points on my supposedly Corsair Link compatible Asus Maximus Hero VII motherboard that is not picked up by the Link software, custom named points get duplicated with a restart, reassigning them names. Conflicts with AI suite 3 fan controls. Other minute but annoying bugs are present. Best not to use the software at all. (2). The cables are fugly. They are flat, ribbon style cables that make bending easier, and therefore make installation easier, but, they are uglier than your mama. Luckily I was able to hide most of them behind the motherboard mounting panel in the 760T, and use some prettier cable extensions on the 24 pin and CPU power cable to help with the look. I also don't like the combo 8 pin and 6+2 pin pcie cables. Would have preferred to have separate 8 pin and 6 pin cables, each with an outlet on the PSU. Other than that, it's a great performing and extremely quiet PSU. The fully modular cable outlets are great. ... show more

  • Very Nice Very Nice
I like this quite a bit although you can not see it in my build. It's a smart PSU with a optional USB connection that gives you more control over it. The fan doesn't kick on until it is needed and even then it's still fairly quiet. I highly recommend this unit. This PSU is hosted by my Corsair Carbide 400C Compact Mid-Tower Case powering an ASUS Z270 M1 Motherboard equipped with an Intel i7 7700K CPU, Corsair H105 AOI CPU Cooler, 64gb of Crucial Ballistix RAM, ASUS GeForce 1080GTX Turbo GPU, and an ADATA SU800 512gb SSD with 4 Corsair SP-120 fans and doing a phenomenal job! ... show more
