  • Best ultra running watch
Color: Gray
I’ve had a Coros watch in the past and I’ve loved everything about it except the display. I tried a few different watches since then but with the display of the Pace Pro, I’m so glad to have purchased this watch. It’s phenomenal! Great accuracy, great battery life, and now a great display!

  • No airplane mode, high EF radiation
Color: Black
No Airplane Mode: It’s surprising that a high-end sports watch like the COROS lacks an airplane mode. The watch already includes Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings, so adding a simple toggle to disable all connectivity should be feasible. Not only would an airplane mode help conserve battery life during long, remote activities without a phone connection, but it would also benefit users who are mindful of exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMFs). In my measurements, the COROS watch emitted an average radiation output of around 300 mW/m², significantly higher than my S24 Ultra. For those who value battery efficiency and reduced EMF exposure, the absence of airplane mode feels like a notable oversight. Dim Screen: Another drawback is the display brightness, which is particularly disappointing for a watch designed for outdoor athletes. In bright daylight or other high-light situations, the screen can appear dim, compromising visibility during activities like running or cycling. An option to adjust brightness or a brighter default setting would greatly improve usability in various lighting conditions. Conclusion: Unfortunately, I can’t recommend the COROS watch in good conscience, especially when there are alternatives like the Garmin Epix available. The Garmin Epix includes airplane mode, a brighter, more vibrant display, and a broader range of features—and now, it’s priced similarly. For anyone looking for a comprehensive, user-friendly experience, the Garmin Epix is a stronger choice ... show more

  • Random UI freeze & the 2024 maps are just meh
Color: Blue
Watch running latest firmware would freeze randomly on actions for a few minutes. Even after a factory reset the issue would occur at random, but frequent enough to annoy. Especially since the slower CPU of the Pace 3 never had any issues. While maps load fast, there is very little info on them at launch to be useful. Additionally, COROS forces the night mode version of the maps to further reduce power consumption since black pixels on OLED displays are not lit. However, the maps at launch are not even optimized for an OLED display considering the black background is actually a very dark grey (nearly black) so the pixels are still emitting light. It makes it look like a bad backlit LCD when viewing the maps. Normally plastic watches are fine by me, but @ $350 USD the bezel should have had titanium. It just looks cheap, but the buttons are clicky and responsive. Honestly, I wish I kept my Pace 3 as the maps and processor upgrade provide very little benefit... if any. If you need a GPS watch now: go with a Pace 3 or Vertix 2S. If you can wait... then wait until COROS releases the Apex series. Hopefully by then the maps will be better and you can get a nicer watch build as well. Currently, I feel the COROS Pace 3 is still the best of what COROS has to offer in terms of: price, weight and features. ... show more

  • coros is far behind garmin
Color: Black
used the pace pro alongside a forerunner 265 for a week. ultimately, garmin simply has more experience under its belt, and better technology under the hood. first, pace pro does not have a true "always on" display. you can only put the watch in standby mode, which means it switches to a less detailed screen (check pics) while you're not looking at it, and you have to flick your wrist (gesture), to get to the default watch face. i prefer a watch that stays on; i do not care if it drains the battery. the gesture on pace pro is very bad. 70% of the time, i would turn my wrist to view the watch, and it would not switch to the default watch face. it would stay on the standby screen. coros seems a tad bit obsessed with battery life, so even when the gesture finally works, within 2-3 seconds, even while you're still viewing the watch, it will go back to the standby screen. on the other hand, the forerunner 265 can stay on, and its gesture technology works 90% of the time. the forerunner simply dims the screen, and turns the light back on when you turn your wrist. the gps on both watches are great. i run on a track. coros shows distance in miles on the track, which i prefer, while garmin shows distance in meters. for an american, seeing 20,000m on your workout summary is kinda useless. we'd prefer to see 12.4 miles, so coros wins for american track runners. however, the pace pro does not vocalize your distance through bluetooth, while the forerunner does. i read that this feature is coming to pace pro through an update in january 2025. the optic heart rate monitor on both watches is pretty bad. in general, you'll want to get a chest strap. after a few laps on the track, the pace pro showed my heart rate at 165 while my chest strap showed it at 140. but this is standard for any wrist monitor. i used both watches at the gym during weight training. the pace pro outperformed the forerunner in recognizing reps. otherwise, they are the same. i ran on the treadmill with both. the forerunner is better since it allows you to calibrate it after each run. forerunner technology will eventually align with the treadmill distance after 5-6 calibrations. both watches allow you to adjust the distance after a treadmill run, but pace pro will not calibrate over time. it will overestimate every time. i guess since distance can be adjusted on both, it's a tie. but it is nice to see that garmin tries to take the adjustment burden away over time. the watch face data on pace pro is not customizable. on forerunner, it gives you three bubbles, and you can put whatever you want in those bubbles - total calories burned, distance ran or cycled for the week, vo2 max, etc. the pace pro defaults to steps, and active calories burned. meaning, it shows the calories you burned from exercise that day, while the forerunner shows resting and active calories burned for the day, which is more useful. imagine you wake up and exercise, burning 500 calories. pace pro will show those same 500 calories burned for the rest of the day, while forerunner will be showing all calories burned from all movement. the forerunner has a neat feature called morning report, where you wake up and it tells you the weather, gives you a sleep score, suggests a particular workout in relation to your training readiness, etc. so, if you plan to leave garmin for coros, you may miss this feature. overall, the forerunner matched with garmin's app was more informative and enjoyable for me. i do not care for wallet features on fitness watches, or ability to play spotify, so it did not matter to me that pace pro did not include those features. i noticed that pace pro gives me better sleep scores than garmin, and says i have less stress. coros definitely gives more a confidence boost to users, while garmin says i'm stressed, sleep deprived, never ready to train, need to take more rest days, and need to mix up my workouts. i can't tell which is right. the garmin app is also ugly, while coros app is very aesthetic. if you don't care for the watch to give you suggestions on how to balance your training, and if an inconsistent wrist gesture wouldn't bother you, you'll be fine with pace pro. ... show more
