I got a folding saw for the backpack a while back (the green & black brand.) I found that the teeth were too aggressive to get my cut started easily. Knives & saws need to be sharp & fit your ergonomics in order to be safe. The green & black saw just didn’t work for me. This Corona saw cuts pretty effortlessly, once you make your starting cut. My 8yr old son can use it safely to get wood for s’mores fires & whittling. It is nice to give him some independence & know he will be safe. It is easy to close the blade into the handle & it then locks securely for travel or returning to the pack. Our rule is to always sheath your knife, hatchet, saw etc…as soon as you stop making your cut. The corona saw makes it so easy to do that; no one will be tempted to walk through the woods with an exposed blade. I like these saws. They are light, strong, pack small & safely , & cut very well. I carry this on walks in the Rocky Mountains to cut small deadfall trees that have fallen on the trail. I’ve been pleased with how well it works on trees up to 5 or 6 inches diameter. I’ve also used it for pruning around our house. It cuts fast and seems to hold its edge. It’s cheap enough that if it gets too dull, I’ll just get another one. ... show more

So far I've used this tool for cutting brush and small trees up to about 3 inches (haven't tried for larger trees but it will probably work.) It does a great job. Easy to fold up and fold back out for use. Lightweight and fits into the thigh pocket with the loop to hold it in place on overalls.

Before taking it camping, I decided to test it by trimming some branches in my yard. It cut through a 2 in diameter branch in 3 swipes. I couldn’t believe it. It’s light, sturdy and has a great lock - and it’s crazy effective. Folds and stores perfectly in my pack.

The weather in Texas has finally become bearable for doing work outdoors. As it turns out, I really didn't need to wait until October to raze a sizeable collection of lady palms which have fiber covered canes. With this saw I was able to quickly and easily sever even the more well developed canes. I expected the job to take hours based on how long it took me to trim the tops off a number of palms while using a battery operated jigsaw. How long did it take to clear the ground?
