This tarp cover is very big and heavy. Had a large 20x40 tent that had a regular top. Over time the sun degrades the top and they start leaking since most are just 'water resistant'. One tent owner suggested a heavy-duty tarp cover in a video to extend tent life. Did not do it immediately but finally decided to get a tarp cover. Did not know if 16 Mil would do the job but this cover is a heavy-duty tarp. It is heavy and it will take some work to put one this size on, but it was well worth it. Was under the impression that only a vinyl cover was waterproof, but this cover had been waterproof so far for a month or so. Incidentally, a big enough storm finally went through and blew most of the roof off of the tent. The tarp cover got hooked up in the frame and it caused ponds of water to form in the tarp cover at different places. The water was so heavy the tarp could not be budged and had to be unhooked at different places to release the water. But what was so noticeable was the tarp was holding all that water without a drop on the ground underneath it. Not certain if the tarp is woven waterproof or treated but it works. Got the extra large one. It's so heavy! Had to cut it in half and weave a rope tying it all together through the well-made holes all the length of the backyard metal double garage storage shed. Quite a job, but I'm thrilled with the results! I used FLEX tape to seal the 2 pieces together. Context-this was the first season of use for under a tent. It worked very well through 3 camping trips, 2 with significant rain fall (summer of 2023 in New England was a very wet summer). This tarp is thick and a great base tarp. It might be too heavy if you were to use for shelter above but this was very waterproof. I've bought heavy duty but in reality is light to medium duty. This was essential for a camp ground that was river rock. It would have punctured through and damaged our tent without this as a base. We have a separate bag to store this in. ... show more

I decided I wanted to replace my traditional deck canopy/cover with something waterproof and liked the price of these tarps. I wasn't sure how sturdy it would be, because my past experience with the blue and silver tarps (or brown and silver) that you find at Walmart, was that UV light soon reduced them to shreds. I took a chance on this tarp, and purchased white. I have been very pleased with how well it is doing! The person who installed it for me felt it would last several years. Used this cover on our pool for 13 months before it started to get brittle. 13 months may not sound impressive until you know it was subjected to desert heat of 110, high for over a month at a time, high winds at times, and intense sun everyday. With this and I have purchased many from the cheap blue tarps to this one. And with this tarp when they claimed it was a 20x20 it WAS AND WELL BUILT. The eyes for the grommets was done right the thickness was dead on. No miss sewn corners well done guys. Now with that being said we'll will see how it handles the Florida sun after 1 or 2 years. We have an open area between two barns that we prefer to cover with a tarp to maintain daylight in that area, instead of covering with metal roofing. We have been through a couple tarps previous to this one, each lasting 1-2 years due to wind damage and lack of adequate water resistance. Neither were of the quality seen in this tarp. The 20ml is definitely worth the cost for an installation like this. It's not an easy job to replace the tarp, so we hope to receive more than a year or two out of this one. In the 4 weeks since installation, we have received 14 inches of rain, and it is bone dry under the canopy, which pleases us and the goats! We also have had some storms with strong wind gusts, and there have been no problems. Well worth the cost!! ... show more

    • Not as heavy duty as I had hoped…

Made a seasonal canopy over our dog run (for shade and rain protection), so I ordered the 16’ x 12’ tarp. I wish I got the 20’ one, but it serves its purpose. Right now I can’t say anything about durability over time, but am hoping I can get four or five seasons out of it.
