Bought one of these to help with cold air on a leaky back door with Florida/Louvre window, as well as for privacy. I'd gotten sick of typical big box white cut-to-size roller shades that shred on the edges, snap and bang, and need to be replaced every couple of years with even moderate use. Think I searched "high quality roller shade" and found these. After installing one on the back door, I got one for the front door, and soon after, another for a bedroom window. They are fantastic! I got black both to help blackout light and to absorb sunlight in south and west windows. They do a good job of helping to block cold drafts in old windows. But the thing that impresses me most is their quality construction with real metal frame, mechanism & bottom pull bar, as well as their durability with almost daily use in some locations. I deliberately waited a couple of months after purchase of my first shade to write this review, to really test this latter point, but so far they are all holding up just great and function just as they should. OH! And forgot to mention they have an adjustable "slow-glide retract" that keeps the thing from zipping up, snapping and even sometimes damaging the mechanism on typical cheap roller blinds. They even LOOK much nicer and like a quality item. Lastly I'll mention the ease of installation, particularly an outside mount on two wood doors with windows, but almost as easy on an inside-mounted one into plaster/lath frame. That of course took pre-drilling, but otherwise, mounting screws and if needed for drywall/plaster, plastic wall anchors, are all included in the nice, clear end-padded protective packing sleeve these come in. A fantastic value versus the cheap all-plastic cut-to-size alternatives, and I'm just thrilled to have them. I'd highly recommend them if you're looking for a low-cost alternative to custom blinds or drapes and/or to help with heat/cold issues.

These are AMAZING! Get them! I struggled for so long keeping light out of my bedroom actually tucking in my curtains to my blinds ever single night for years. Tedious and it looked bad inside and out. These are SO low profile. My windows have almost ZERO allowance for anything to fit within the frame. Maybe just barely 2" wide around the window BUT these still worked. The effortlessley open with one little tug and gently roll up! The install was super easy like 4 screws total! I chose the black as just though it looked a little classier than the white! They are really wonderful!

This shade is pretty simple. It's very easy to install, and it does a good job of blocking direct light. However, its failure is that when it hangs,the fabric curls a little bit at the sides, into kind of a fat U shape. Because of this, it doesn't lay flat against the window casing. And because it doesn't lay flat, it allows light to come through at the sides. You can see this in the photo from Debra Babcock's review (the one with the shade pulled all the way down). IDK, maybe the shade with the black fabric has less reflectivity and would let less light in at the sides?

For years we would get replacement shades from Home Depot or from Lowe’s, which they would cut to size. My mom’s shade was getting pretty raggedy so she went to Home Depot (we no longer have a Lowe’s in our area) and found that Home Depot no longer sells them. So I started searching on Amazon for a replacement shades. As an Amazon Vine reviewer, I pay a lot of attention to reviews and I liked the reviews for this shade. My mom says it’s the best shade she’s ever had (and she’s 87 years old). She said it’s quiet, has a nice handle to grasp and the roller goes all the way up when she wants it up. The quality is so much nicer than the big box stores, it’s a blackout fabric material instead of vinyl. This shade is going to last a long time. The price was also pretty low, especially with the better quality compared to Home Depot. Installation was a breeze, we made my brother do it and he had no difficulties. The old shade had brackets inside the window on the sides and these are different, I believe it mounted from the top.

Do not know if it was just my shipment but ordered 2 - 68 inch wide blackout blinds. Neither of them were shipped with hardware to install. I emailed the company, they promptly responded and sent out the hardware within 24 hours and arrived 3 days later. The curtains were incredibly easy to install, look great, blackout a significant amount of light and are easy to use. Would recommend.

We bought 11 of these about a year ago, recently one of them stopped rolling back up, we contacted the company, and they promptly sent us a replacement. These are very nice shades, even with that one problem we still recommend these shades.
