These ground lugs are junk. Firstly they aren’t big enough to fit over a slightly mushroomed head after driving in the ground rod. The biggest issue is that they are very brittle. I broke one after an errant blow with a 3 pound sledge. Ok, my bad. Second one broke immediately after starting to torque it down so that the copper wire would hold to the ground rod.

I installed this on 5/8 copper 8' grounding rod I purchased from lowes. I live in the lightning capital of the United states in Southwest florida and needed to ground my solar panels and inverters from any harmful and potential lightning surges and spikes it might get from the next number of years. The ground clamp was exactly as expected and simple. I was only installing a single wire on the entire ground rod and this was the simpliest and easiest solution to ensure a well grounded setup! After tightening it, I pounded it the rest of the way in the ground and the clamp never moved. Overall, its exactly as expected, arrived quickly and a great value overall. Would definately recommend!

The media could not be loaded. This stubby little clamp is simple and effective. There are no parts that might wear out or corrode. OK, over the next century or so, the metal will eventually display some deterioration, but that's for the next home-owner to deal with. The stainless steel bolt should be unaffected by weather, especially since there is no movement... no wear 'n tear. The 'Silicon Bronze' body has good corrosion resistance, strength, and conductivity, and is also considered one of the best-looking copper alloys. Silicon bronze is around 94-96% copper with 2.5-6% silicon and sometimes a mixture of other metals such as aluminum, zinc, lead, iron, etc. Silicon bronze is more resistant to water corrosion than brass. The only major weakness of this alloy is its expensive price tag. The big box stores have a similar clamp for about three times less, but this item's durability makes it worth the price.

I have been buying and using ground rod clamps for decades. I don't feel like I over tighten this clamp and certainly didn't tighten more than the one I was replacing. Before I was at a point I thought it was tight enough, it snapped. Metal is thin and looks porous. The seller reached out to me and offered a full refund even though two were in a pack and one broke. I accepted half refund.
